Pot luck reminder Attention all senior citizens don't forget about your pot luck supper to be held in the Blyth Memorial Hall on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. Hullett hires snowplower HULLETT TOWNSHIP - At their Oct. 3 meeting, Hullett TownshipCouncil chose the tender of Radford Construction for snowplowing. The tender accepted is for $30 per hour and is subject to Ministry of Transportation and Communications ap- proval. Hulley was the other tender in the running and they offered a price of $28 per hour. According to Clerk Harry Lear, council chose Radford Construction because of their good service in past years and experienced operators. Extension approved Council approved the application of Nick Seraphin for a two-year extension off draft approval for a subdivision in Auburn. Clerk Lear said Mr. Seraphin thought there was some delay by council in granting permission for the subdivision go-ahead. "As far as we're concerned it's ready to go. The OMB has approved it," said Mr. Lear. Township applies for grant Mr. Lear was instructed by council to apply for a Community Celebrations grant for the Provincial Bicentennial in 1984. Council and Hullett's Recreation Com- mittee will be working together on displacing the funds if the grant is received. Tile drains approved Council approved tile drains for the following residents of Hullett Township: Margaret Taylor of lot 9, con 8; Viola Riley lot 10, con 2 and Ivan Pickett of lot 15, con 2. Wreath purchased Council agreed to purchase large wreaths at $35 each for the Blyth and Clinton Royal Canadian Legion and have the Reeve and Deputy -Reeve lay them. County opposes MTC money Huron County council is objecting "strenuously" to changes in the Ministry of Transportation and Communications method of subsidizing boundary bridges. Road engineer Robert Dempsey told the Oct. 5 session of county council that about 20 per cent of the cost of the Ball's Bridge, ex- pected to be under construction in the near future, could be lost under the change. A $50,000 study is yet to be completed on the wrought iron bridge located on the boun- dary of Colborne, Hullett and Goderich Townships. The Ball's bridge is expected to cost over $1.5 million. Mr. Dempsey said the present 80 per cent subsidy on boundary bridges could be reduc- ed to about 55 per cent based on an average of the surrounding townships subsidy percentage. The surrounding townships sub- sidy will be based on the individual municipality's requirements instead of the previous method of having subsidies based on the job, ie. 80 per cent for bridges. "It'll be quite costly to Huron County if implemented," noted road committee member Brian McBirney. Mr. Dempsey said Huron is making its ob- jections known to MTC. The subject will also be considered by the Municipal Engineers Association, the Ontario Good Roads Association and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
