The waiting driver kept track of the pass- ing minutes as each sleepy lady hurriedly prepared to leave her home. After a delicious breakfast of fruit, quiche and muffins, everyone was fined for such in- fractions as failing to say goodbye, wearing 4H s visit Hair Shop The third meeting of the Clinton III, 4-H Club was held at Mrs. Walker's on Oct. 3. It opened with the pledge, then the minutes of the previous meeting were read. Thirteen members attended this meeting and the new secretary was elected since the former one was having some difficulty keeping up. After working on our books, we visited The Hair Shop in Clinton and were given information to fill in our books. We had to draw later on and someone got their hair washed, dried and curled. The next meeting was to be held at Mrs. Saundercock's on Oct. 12. -by Marion Rueger. OPEN HOUSE AT COZYN'S GARDEN CENTRE HURON ST. W. STRATFORD AT CITY LIMITS SAT. & SUN. The most difficult part of the event was explaining to curious neighbors why one was arriving home at nine in the morning at- tired in nightwear! The regular meeting on October 11 was also held at Marj Dobson's home. Marj presented an interesting program on the West Indies, which consists of thirty islands, including Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Barbados. Since Marj has visited the latter twice, she singled it out as her main topic. Barbados has an area of 166 square males and has a definite English flavor with a statue of Lord Nelson in the island's owrr~ Trafalgar Square. It also has the division of the land into parishes; an emphasis on cricket and polo; and English as an official .language. Marj showed pictures of the island's beautiful flowering plants and trees and the sugar cane industry, as well as excellent photos she took herself. The legend of Sam Lords, who apparently lured ships to destruction on the rocky shore in order to salvage them, provided a fascinating glimpse of life there when pirate. and smugglers roamed freely. r President Ann Adams chaired the business meeting. Lois Fitzgerald read a thank -you from the Bluewater Blind Club for helping at their tea and CNIB display. Social chairman Rita Van Dyke announc- ed the shopping trip to London would be changed to November 12. Rides were ar- ranged ranged for Ladies Night Out in Goderich on October 21. Wayne Hodges made a presentation of the Kinsmen Club's plans for a 50's, 60's dance to be held in June. In keeping with the theme of her program, Marj served a delightfully fruity Jamaican pie and a tasty banana dessert to end the evening.
