It will deal with the effects of social isolation and depression on the elderly in our institutions and in our community. It will feature a panel discussion. Members of the panel will include Pat Morrison, Head Nurse, Department. of Psychiatry at AM&G; Colleen Robinson, .Director of Nursing at Maitland Manor in Goderich; Laurie Paquette, Huron County Public Health Nurse; Rosemary Armstrong, Co- ordinator of the Huron Day Centre for the Homebound; and Jean Young, Director of Town and Country Homemakers. The second session will be held Wednesday, October 12 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the auxiliary room. The topic will be Nutrition and Medication for the Elderly. Speakers will include Dr. Lomus, family physician; Barb Guse, nutritionist; and Larry Rieck, pharmacist. The third session will be held Wednesday, October 19 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the lounge on 3rd floor west at the hospital. The topic will be Physio and Occupational Therapy for the Elderly. Speakers will be Allison Hollingworth, physiotherapist and Mike Moriarity, occupational therapist. The final session will be held Thursday, October 27 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the auxiliary room. The topic will be "How to Create a Non Person: A Look at the Effects of Care on the Elderly". The speaker will be Elaine Baillie, activation consultant with the Ministry of Health. These sessions are open to everyone. You many attend as many of them as you like. Refreshments will be provided.
