BELGRAVE — The Ord
annual Belgrave, :..lyth and
Brussels School Fair was
held on Sept. 14.
The fair opened with a
parade to the arena with all
the school children led by the
Brussels Legion Pipe Band.
Representatives of the
Board of Education, Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and
Food, the townships of Mor-
ris and East Wawanosh and
the school fair board gave
speeches in the opening
ceremonies.
Susan Elston, the 1982 high
point winner, officially open-
ed the fair. This was follow-
ed by a livestock and sports
program. People also view-
ed over 3,000 exhibits which
were brought in the night
before and displayed in the
arena.
A good crowd and good
weather made it a very suc-
cessful fair.

Mr. Harold Keating left on
Sept. 9 on a Hanover bus tour
to Elgin Hodse Resort near
Port Carling. On Sat. morn-
ing they went to Parry Sound
for a boat cruise. On the way
home on Mon. morning, they
stopped at the Blue Moun-
tain Pottery at Collingwood.
Several Begrave residents
enjoyed a bus trip to Sarnia
and a boat cruise on the St.
Clair River.
Mrs. Ethel Wheeler is a
patient in the Wingham and
District Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Huskinson of Long Lac, On-
tario and Mrs. Ben Huskin-
son of Callandar visited with

mother Mrs. Ivy Cook on
Sept. 7 and also visited other
relatives in the vicinity.

Willowdale visiting with his

On Sept. 10, Mr. and Mrs.
Alan MacKay of Wingham
and Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Pletch attended the wedding
of their nephew, Warren Hill
and Carol Marsh in the
Forest Grove United Church
at Willowdale.
Mrs. Carroll McKim of
Lucknow, a volunteer nurse
at a short-term medical mis-
sion in British Honduras,
will speak at the meeting of
the Belgrave United Church
Women in the church school
room on Sept. 27 at 8:15 p.m.

WI visit Douglas Point nuclear station

LONDESBORO - The Sept.
14 WI meeting was a bus trip
to Douglas Point convened
by Agriculture and Canadian
Industries committee
leaders June Fothergill and
Alice Buchanan by Murphy
Bus with driver Keith Tyn-
dall.
Forty-one members
toured the plant, slides
were shown on the power
development, then a bus tour
showing steam plant and
security centre. One hun-
dred people work at ' the
security centre and there are
7,200 employees at Douglas
Point.
WI Members were treated
to dinner at the cafeteria and
then they went to Pine River
butter and cheese factory
where they saw slides on
making cheese from the
time the milk leaves the
farm until it reaches the fac-
tory. The women were
treated to cheese and
crackers. Everyone made
purchases at the store.
The W.I. are invited to
Blyth W.I. meeting on Oct. 6.

Arie Duizer was taken by
ambulance to Clinton Public
Hospital on Sept. 12.

after 'a door at the Clinton
Gas Bar was kicked in.
Two Varna youths and a
Clinton woman have been
charged following break,
enter and theft at an apar-
tment at 44 Huron Street.
Twohave been charged with
break and enter following an
incident at C and E Variety.

Student Council
This year Hallett Central
School has a student council.
The president is Lori
Bromley, the secretary is
Lisa Bosman, and treasurer
is Kelly Vodden. We have
class representatives from
Grade 3 to 7. Grade 3 is Kelly
Bosman, Grade 4 is Julia De-
jong, Grade 5 is Karen
Plunkett, Grade 6 is Jeff
Nesbitt, and Grade 7 is Todd
Du Quette.
Nurse's Visit
On Sept. 12, the Health
Nurses came to cheek for
head lice. There was nobody
with lice. We are glad.
Secretary
Mrs. Madill, our
secretary, has been away
sick since the beginning of
school. She broke her toe just
before school started. We
wish her a speedy recovery.
Aladdin Day
On Sept. 16 we had an
Aladdin Day. Everyone was
to dress up in a gypsy or
pirate costume. In the after-
noon we saw two films call-
ed, The Magic Horse, and
Aladdin. For lunch we had
hot dogs and chocolate milk.
It was a good day.
Home Economics
and Shop
Our Grade 7 and 8 classes
have always gone to home ec
and shop in Seaforth. This is
the first year for the new
aten wew, uf, ci
Grade 7's and the second
year for the Grade 8's. The
shop teacher is Mr. Snell and
the Home Ec teacher is Mrs.
Mathers. The Grade 7's real-
ly, really enjoy going there.
Hullett Plays Soccer
At Hullett we have four
soccer teams. We have a
senior boy's team and a
senior girl's team,which con-
sists of Grades 7 and 8. We
also have a junior boy's
team and junior girl's team
which consists of Grades 4 to
6. They are working very
hard to wen all the games
they play in the future.
Cross Country
This year at Hallett many
students have joined the
cross country team and are
running for 15 minutes every
day before lunch. They are
practising for the big meet
on October 18 at our school
Hallett has won the cham-
pionship for the last four
years and they ate bound
and determined to win again
this year and they are runn-
ing their way to it.
