The Reeve reported on his contact with the officers of the Holmesville Site and found the Village could be accom- modated there. He will be in- vited to their next meeting for further discussion. Clinton's aviation day, Fri- day last, was one of the hot- test days this summer, a regular blisterer and in- cidentally, Capt. Gillies said it was one of the worst flying days in his experience, a gusty wind blowing and what aviators describe as "air pockets" making the voyag- ing a bit rough. 75 years ax, September 17, 1908 Captain McTaggart, who recently resigned the posi- tion of secretary -treasurer of the Collegiate Institute Board, performed the duties thereof in a most satisfac- tory manner for six years without pay. The Board has now decided to add a salary of $50 per annum and is advertising for applicants. From nothing to half $100 is quite a jump. 100 years ago September 12, 1:3 A wild looking individual, yelling and hurrahing was marching through the fields one evening last week. He claimed to have had an en- counter with the Chief of Clinton, in which the latter was knocked down three times. Chief Paisley did give "Tom" a chase while in Clin- ton, but he made good his escape. "Tom" is wanted on very important business, and he may yet have to toe the mark - before the legal authorities. The Tug D.D. Porter with three barges sought the shelter of the harbor on Fri- day. On Saturday she left for a barge that had broken away from the tow, which barge she brought into har= bot on Sunday evening. The Tug and four barges left dur- ing the night for the river.
