We can say summer this year as we have certain- ly had hot sunny weather. Next week the old school bell will ring again and the mothers will sigh with relief. One would think Maitland and the 16th had disappeared by' the lack of news. I must apologize to all but it took a bit longer to recover from my operation than I planned and when I did get walking without crutches or canes we had to get planning for the barbecue in Ayr and then for our trip West in August. The folks around here have been busy and quite a few have been travelling here and there. Phyllis Thompson has put quite a few miles behind her since spring when Elizabeth and she went to England were they met Peter and then toured England and Scotland. Robin and Phyllis took a week off recently and went East to visit Jamie who is working at 4ntigonish, Nova Scotia. Sine they had been East before they didn't do a lot of sightseeing but stopped at Halifax and spent two days in Ottawa. Jim and Verna Lobb took a two week tour early in July, to England and Scotland. They had nice sunny hot weather while there and Ver- na said the rases were beautiful in spite of the heat wave. Alvin, Linda, Lana and David Jones spent a week at Bingeman Park at Kit- chener. There are lots of things to do at this new recreation park. The Huron County Bill Hillys went to Ayr to take part in a Pork Barbecue. Twenty 70 pound pigs were cooked by teams all over On- tario. Only three pigs were cooked well enough in the time limit to be eaten. The *Huron County Bill Hillys may not have won a prize but there wasn't anything but the bones left of their pig. Three Bills and Mill (Bill Crawford, Bill Lobb, Bill Makins and Millie Lobb) were assisted by Joan Crawford and Marg Makins. Don and Marilyn Forbes and • Gerry and JoAnne Lobb came to Ayr for the fun and it was a long, hot, tiring, fun day. Bill and Joan Crawford spent a weekend in the Muskoka area. The rest of the family have been to On- tario Place, The Science Centre, and Wonderland. Don and Marilyn Forbes had visitors from Wisconsin, U.S.A. During the week they were here, Don, Marilyn, Lisa and Lori took them to see Ontario Place and Wonderland. Jim and Shirley Commerford have been down for a few visits. Donand Alison took a cou- ple of days off and took some of the children to Toronto to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Allen. Don has been very busy with no -till promo- tion and doesn't get much time to really get away from it all this summer. Rick Forbes drove West with Dan Jewitt and Grant Morgan recently. He visited with Graig and Shelley Taylor, Rick Blake, Calvin Merrier, and Dennis Walters in St. Albert, Alberta; went to Brian and Lana Lobb's wedding in Morinville; and toured Banff before Grant and he flew home. Bill and 1 and Valerie flew to Edmonton to attend the wedding of Brian Lobb and Lana Halldorson, in Morin- ville on Augrist 13. The reception was held at the Old Timer's Cabin on Sconia Road. This is a beautiful large log cabin built on the top of a hill overlooking the Saskatchewan River and the city of Edmonton. We at- tended the Gift Opening on Sunday and visited with Brian and Lana before they took off for a honeymoon at Banff. We visited with my nephew Guy Duke and his wife, Melanie in Edmonton, Graig and Shelley Taylor, Rick Blake, Calvin Merner and Dennis Walters in St. Albert. On Tuesday Valerie flew back to London and Bill and I, Grandma Cuyler and Rick Forbes drove to Calgary. While Rick went to Banff we visited with my sister Joyce and Harold Duke before we flew home Thursday afternoon. The S.S. No.4 Community Club will meet at the home of Alison Lobb on September 7.
