They are Kendra Baillie of Monkton; Bethany Bowers of Atwood; Darren Evans of Wingham; Shawn McKague of Wingham; David Hymers of Atwood; Chris King of Brussels; Helga Muscheid of Wingham; and Michele Red - don of Clifford. This crew works with the regular field crew under the supervision of Raymond Gowdy, the superintendent. Four students are working at the Falls Reserve Con- servation Area near Ben - miller. They are Jane Coven - In Holmesville try of Clinton and Phil Brown, Margot Gleason, and Jeff McEwin, all of Goderich. Working at the Galbraith Conservation Area near Listowel is Peter Cookman from Elora. Peter is working at the gate, doing park maintenance and perform- ing park security duties. Peggy Evans of Wroxeter was hired as the Con- servation Services Techni- cian under the Experience Program for 18 weeks. The program coordinator is Sherry Robertson from RItievale. She began May 24 ploy :, wear st and is employed for 14 weeks. Experience '83 alar to provide summer work ex- perience to students and pro- vide some insight as to the operations of a Conservation Authority. In addition to the day-to- day work experience, several days are set aside for educational purposes. The first of these was an 'Orientation Day' to familiarize the students with the Maitland Valley Con- servation Authority. The se- cond Education Day was an emergency first aid course. The third day was a trip to the Kortright Centre for Con- servation near Kleinbnrg, Ontario. This Centre is operated by a the Metropolitan Toronto Region Conservation Authority. The crews have been in- volved with trail develop- ment, woodlot management, campsite development, ero- sion control measures and general park maintenance. Summer Experience '83 at the Maitland Valley Con- servation Authority finishes on August 26. Ball teams take wins and losses By Blanche Deeves Ball News The Bantam Boys defeated Londesboro while the Bantam Girls won over Londesboro. The Pee Wee Boys played a close game with Colborne and the Squirt Boys lost to, Goderich I. The Squirt Girls and mixed Tykes played a final game. The boys Tykes I practiced with the Tykes II. The Boys Tykes went to Colborne for a tournament on Saturday. Colborne won thes,.o.r,.,.. ,./. The Pee Wee girls won the championship at the tourna- ment in Auburn. The Midget boys will be playing in a tournament on August 27 at Vanastra. The Squirt Girls will play at Stanley. Porter's Hill Slo-pitch defeated Auburn. Holmesville Store men's slo- pitch won over Vanastra and the Ladies' slo-pitch team defeated Auburn. From Varna this week By Mary Chessell Jerry and Jean Reid, their boys and Jerry's mother returned on Saturday from a week's vacation 'lnear Lavigne on Lake Nipissing. Jerry and the boys had good luck fishing. Bob and June Webster and girls took a trip through the Georgian Bay area and a cruise on the Island Queen out of Parry Sound. Then they travelled up to Powassan to see Munro Park and visit the Chessells. Bill and Joyce Dowson took a similar trip, with a boat trip out of Midland. They also dropped in at Munro Park to visit the Taylors and Chessells on the only rain -soaked afternon we had. His bass measured 17',4 inches, a bit shorter than several we caught later. Steve and Marion Kreuter camped with us for 10 days, and Steve's parents and his sister's family on an adjoin- ing site for a week. Barry and Pat Taylor, Steven, Greg and Brent spent last week in camp and had good luck fishing. Bob Webster has added brown steel siding to his garage on the corner. With its white trim and the shrubs he planted, it looks pretty neat. The final joint church ser- vice of the summer is in Var- na this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Next week regular services will be held in both churches. The Varna peewee girls played in a round robin ball tournament in Auburn last weekend, losing against Londesboro and Holmesville, and winning Lheir games with Goderich and Auburn. Brucefielder back from east Coast By Isabel Scott Mr. Aldie Mustard has returned to Brucefield from a bus trip to Newfoundland and the Maritimes. Mr. and Mrs. George Clif- ton of London spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Sterling and family. Miss Betty Boyce of Toron- to spent the weekend with her cousin Mrs. Alice Ham. Mr. and Mrs. David Triebner spent the weekend at Brigden attending the steam engine show. Miss Brenda Hallam is visiting at Mansfield with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Kirk. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Rathweil and family have returned from Kamloops, British Columbia and attend- ed the canoe races while there. They visited with Mrs. Rathwell's grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence, Moosejaw, Saskatchewan on the way home.
