Blyth Inn travelled to
Dungannon to play in the
first annual Kingsbridge
tournament. Blyth lost their
first game to Nile by a close
8-7 score in extra innings.
Blyth won their second
game on Friday night by
defeating a Londesboro club
32-0. On Saturday Blyth had
to ruin four games in order
to make it to the final. Once
in the final Blyth had to
defeat the "A" side winners
twice in order to claim the
grand championship. The
Blyth team defeated Nile
and Carlow in successive
games and earned the right
to move on.
After an hour and a half
rest Blyth defeated Lucknow
Outlaws and Blyth Pirates to
go into the finals against
Lucknow Crystalizers. The
Inn took the field in the final
and should have been tired
after playing four games
under very hot conditions in
the afternoon but exploded
and trounced Lucknow 14-1
in five innings, setting up one
final game for the "A"
championship.
Blyth won a close fought
game by a 9-8 score to take
home $500 in first prize
money.
