Our fishing tip this week cadet** Jim Butcher of , Clinton:: ; A lot of fishermen I see still want to use snaps and swivels on the end of their line,,,andiusually when they:; do. they are of the extra large variety. Sure, its easy to <- change lures quickly, but the f islaerinen ,loses in two,. ways he might not be aware of..^ In the first place -lure action is almost always im- peeled by the swivel Most luresaare c efully, balanced to operate properly. whew t : Krkeligi tweight-•- :monofilament. That •small bit v extra weigRht,,oar the slight turbulance'setlp by_the swiv'el:is often enough to ' seriously interfere With the action 'of the lure. If you must add weight to get your lure deeper, make sure:it is at least 18 inches in front of the bait so it "doesfl't interfere: • The other disadvantage of usingasnap swivel is that the tip of the line is not removed often enough. The section immediately in front of the lure starts to suffer fromnicks and abrasions, and becomes work hardened from the constant movement. When a big fish finally does hit, there's a good chance a breakage will occur; in the first foot or two of line. By retying your knot every time a lure is changed; the tip is freshened by a foot or so, greatly reducing the change of a breakoff. 11JNTON NEWS- 'twit EWri - :f4 RD. In a hard played match the Clinton team opened the scoring when Craig Caldwell fed a well placed pass to Devon Colquhoun, who fired ' a shot past the Kincardine goalkeeper. Kincardine soon came back with two quick goals before Ricky Lobb and Devon Colquhoun teamed up to even the score. Atfr'Aea*loetl rasrmori! MP DAY °ao. To °i9. rem SIMR11P® amnia! Mike Ladd who handles the imide right '+ (Atien, played very well as did !:.rimes Kiss who placed a well kicked corner ball. Other outstanding players for Clinton were Scott Br®w✓si, playing outside left Half, Mike Corrie, goalkeeper and Andrew Dykstra, centre defence.
