In order to help provide funds for the county based organization, it was suggested that each municipality be contacted and grants requested. The Association will ask each municipality in Huron County for a $50 donation, commencing with their 1984 budget year. The Safety Association will also consider sponsoring a curling bonspiel to raise funds. To further promote safety in the home and on the farm, some mernbers suggested that a 4-11 Farm Safety Club be established. It was suggested that perhaps be offering the club earlier in the year and having it completed earlier, might avoid conflict with other clubs. Other ideas included a promotional day in co- operation with another commodity group; displays at trade fairs and area fall fairs and a poster contest for school age children, to be held in January. Members also agreed to purchase 1,000 placemats from the Ontario Farm Safety Association Incor- porated. These will be available upon request -by agricultural organizations who are catering to dinner functions. The placemats will be available from Secretary Don Young and he may be contacted at 526-7569. Mr. Young also reported that the local organization had received a special postage grant of $20.20. This grant is provided by the Ontario Farm Safety Association to help com- pensate local associations with the ever rising costs of postage. Lionel Wilder informed members that as a result of the recommendation made at the March meeting with the Huron County Property Committee and various agricultural organizations in the county, that the Property Committee had been renamed and is now known as the Property and Agricultural Committee. Mr. Young reported that he had ordered and received a further 150 Dangerous -Gas Signs. The request came from Bill Armstrong who is the liasion person with the Huron County Junior Far- mers. The Junior Farmers are looking after the distribution of the signs. After some discussion members agreed to contact all municipalities in Huron County to request that they encourage the installation of Dangerous Gas Signs on newly constructed silos and other facilities that would require the warning. Steve Matisz, area safety consultant, presented a booklet titled, "Pesticides Safety Handbook," prepared by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. Members commented that this was one of the best publications which they had seen. Nursing home wants licence KINCARDINE - Nursing home advocates in Kin- cardine are waiting for the ministry of health to grant a licence allowing a home to be built. For the past three years, many people in town have been pushing for the establishment of a local nursing home. Registered letters and a petition with 4,000 names stating the urgency of the situation have been forwarded to Minister of Health Larry Grossman, The minisu.ry doesn't pay for the building of the facility but does pay a percentage of the operating costs and according to Grey -Bruce district health council chairman Ron Sapsford, the provincial government has just entered a new fiscal year and funding could be forthcoming.
