PIM= SCROOL EXAMINATIONS.-
The uniform promotion examinations
for Huron County will be held ,on
March 20th and 21st. Pipers are be-
ing prepared. for junior and senior II
and junior and senior III 'classes.
Teachers -should at once. notify the
public school Inspector. stating the
number of papers required for each
class.
InnEoan Brees.-Several bills of
"The State Bank of New Brunswick,
New Jersey" have made their appear-
ance in Huron, and es they are worth-
less it will be well to warn the public.
The facts ascertained are that the or-
ganization of the bank was never com-
pleted, and the engraved plates fellin-
to the hands of some one. and have
been illegally used to print from. The
paper of the bills discovered in circul-
ation is very thin, and the bills appear
as if vvell worn. Beware of them.
IMPASSABLE RoAns.-Nearly every
winter certain roads are blocked with
snow, making it next to impossible for
farmers to get, out for any purpose,
with the result that farmers, business
risen road others are greatly embarrass-
ed these times. If the loss that has
arisen from snowblocked roads could
be computed, we venture to say that it
would he so large that people would
be amazed at the total. And a large
amount of this loss could be avoided.
The remedy for it is wire fences on all
roads running north Pe 1. south. We
believe the time will Leine when the
Legislature will find it necessary to
pass a law making such compulsory.
Experience has demonstrated the
beuefit of the wire fences in stormy
weather, and farmers should erect
them on north and south roads as a
matter' of self-interest. They have
passed, the experimental stage, and
there should be no hesitation about
their universal adoption as quickly as
possible.

the stze of that of ordinary oats, and is
good evidence of its inherent vigor.
Stools -The "New Century" Oat
stools heavily and is really remarkable
in that respect. In a field I his past
seasons, there were sown ten pecks
per acre on part and the remainder
was sown with seVen .pecks. It was
absolutely impossible to see any dif-

Homey Meercer.-The hockey match
played here on Tuesday night be
tween the St. John's, of London, and
the Devons, of Exeter, resulted in a
victory for Exeter by a score of 6-2.
The home team played a splendid
game and gave the visitors a. hard
attle, In their recent game at Ailsa
Oraig they also defeated the team of
that village by a large score. During
the game our boys had to fight against,
members of their team of former years,
in the persons of Bert Ross and Frank '

desperate effort to score for London.

This is whab a commercial agency says
