est, being the marriage of Miss Melia
Hodgins, sister of Mrs. R. D. Stanley,

on Dec, 31st, at 10 o'clock as
Wm, Ward, of Chicago, is at present
in London settling' up tile estate of the
late Geo.Butler, of Lucian, who died
20 years years ago. The estate was
worth $10,000, and was left to seven
persons, who were of age, and ono
minor. Mr. Ward is representing ewo
of the heirs, Midis Stone and Midis
Clark, of Chicago.

The death of Mrs. Johanna White
McLeod, relict of the late David Mc-
Leod, took place on January 14th at
the age of 82 years. For some time
past she had lived with her son-in-law,
Mr. Jas. Fairburn, lot 18, Con. 16,
Blanshard.
A very pretty wedding was solemn-
ized at the home of Mr. Alonzo Mar-
tin, James street, St. Marys, on Thurs-
day evening last, when his third dau-
ghter, Carrie Richardson Martin,
was united in marriage to Mr. Ernest
Beatty Switzer, of Wetaskiwin, Al-
berta,
• While Miss Olara and *Miss Nellie
Francis were going to Fullerton last
Friday in a cutter their 'horse got
frightened at a dog and threw them
out and then ran away. Miss Clara
Francis was badly bruised and receiv-
ed a very severe shaking up, but Miss
Nellie escaped any serious hurt.
The residence of Mr. John Cole,
Russeldale was the scene, 'at five
o'clock Wednesday afternoon of last
week, of a very pleasant event, when
Miss Minnie Cole, one of the most
amiable young ladies in Fullerton be-
came the bride of Mr. Jas. Frank 'Wil-
liams, of the firm of John E. Williams
& Son, Mitchell.
There died at the residence of his
son, on the 5th concession of Hibbext,
on Tuesday evening, January 9111, one
of the oldest residents of the county of
Pei th,in the person of Mr. John Ryan,
at the age of 88 years, after a very
brief illness. Although he had. been
in failing health for many years, still
he kept up in his usual spirits until
nearly the last. The late Mr. Ryaa
was born in the county Tipperary,
Ireland, arid came to this country in
the year 1844, settlingfirst in the city
of Hamilton, where he engaged in, the
blacksmithing business until the year.
1860, when he came to the township
of Hibbert, and settled on the farm on
which he resided until the time of his
death. He was married in the old
land to Catharine.Kennedy, who pre-
deceased him about 20 years. They
had seven childx.en, five of whom are
still living, John, in California; Thos.
who resides on the homestead, and
wheshas been reeve and county coun-
cillor of Hibbert aud Perth for over
20 consecutive years ; Mrs. T. Ryan
and Mrs. T. McFadzeitn, of McKillop,
and Miss Ryan at home besides 14
grandehildren and len great grand
obildren.

The death of Miss Agnes Wingle

The death ot Mrs. Robert Dodd, of
McKillop, took place on Monday last,
after an illness of about a vveek, from

Mrs. Dodd's maiden name was Mar-
garet Grieve. She was the eldest
daughter of the late Mr. Hugh Grieve,
of the 2nd con, McKillop, and a sister
of Mr. John G. Grieve, and Mrs. R.
Common and Mrs. Tames Sleeth, •of
Seaforth. She was in her fifty-second
year.
The Tuckersmith council elect for
1902 met at Daly's hall, Egraondville,
on Monday last, as directed by statute,

On Wednesday afternoon'Lorne
Tabb, aged 4 years, son of Thomas
Tabb, of the 6th con., Colborne, was
accidentally and fatally shot by his
cousin, Ernest Stevens, aged 9 years.
A rifle had been loaned and returned
