Legion to hold
Hogma na y
by John Scott
I hope that everyone had a
very enjoyable Christmas
holiday. Even for adults, it is
a very exciting time of year.
Today (Thursday) is the
biggest night of the year for
people of Scottish descent as
tonight is Hogmanay, the
time when we reflect on days
gone by but more important-
ly, look forward to the New
Year with renewed en-
thusiasm and optimism.
The last item of 1981 that
we must report on is the
Christmas draw. Everyone
present had a good time and
lots of prizes were given out
and unfortunately everyoneN
was not in attendance to col-
lect their prize. It's maybe
just as well, because if they

At this time of year people
do strange things - like the
two Scot ladies who were
driving through town ringing
reindeer bells on Christmas
Eve and like the Scotsman
who misplaced his kilt.
Percy Brown is looking for
a member to make up a rink
for District Senior Curling
and if you are interested,
contact Percy.
There is not much news
this week but I have to say to
Blanche Deeves, who entic-
ed me under the mistletoe,
that with the New Year ap-
proaching, can the golf
-season be far behind? '
I hope everyone managed
to get tickets for our New
Year's Eve dance. I am sure
it will be a good night.
To everyone,who reads our
column, whether Legion
member, or not, whether
Scottish or not, we would like
to wish you and yours a Hap-
py New Year and "Lang
May Yer Lum Reek".
