Recreation
Centre
The Vanastra Recreation
Centre staff would like to
wish everyone a happy New
Year, and would like to
thank all the people for
coming out for the free
Christmas fitness, sauna,
and swim. There were
visitors from Vanastra,
Goderich, Seaforth, Mit-
chell, Crediton and has far
away as Edmonton, Ottawa
an d Winnipeg.
The staff hope to see
everyone again out in the
new year, as the winter
program will be starting
January 11. Watch for the
flyer in the mail. There will
also be adult swimming
lessons. Please call 2-3544
for more information.
Christian
Church newts
The Vanastra Christian
Church had a successful
hayride with carol singing.
They had a lot of hot
chocolate for everyone that
was provided by Debbie's
Restaurant.
There will be no Young
Peoples until January 3,
while on Dec. 24, the church
had a Candle Light Service
at8:00p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Visser
and family would like to wish
everyone a happy New Year.
Lion& Lioness
The Lions had a successful
hayride carolling around
Vanastra. They had hot
chocolate after the carolling.
Prizes offered for best lights
were won by: Dave Miller,
first with $25; second, Jeff
Dixon with $15; ,and third
Ross Munroe with $10.

Deborah Carvell wins tasty treat
Community tidbits
Judie Horsup and Lee Ann
Bell and a dozen children
sang at Conestoga College on
Dec. 24th before their
Christmas dinner.
The children that sang in
the choir were: Evelyn
Rhynard, Margerite East,
Chris Horsup, Billy
Rhynard, Bobby Rhynard,
Cheryl East, Corlee Horsup,
Chris Fidom, Kelly White,
Phuoc Luong; Hung Luong
and Eric Saun. The songs
they sang included, Away in
a Manger, We wish you a
Merry Christmas, Rudolph
the Red Nose Reindeer, and
Silent Night.
On Christmas Eve the
children went around singing
Christmas Carols and had
hot chocolate and a lot of
goodies. While they were
drinking hot chocolate, they
had a visit from old Santa
Claus riding a snowmobile,
because • his reindeer were
stuck in the snow.
Cabs
The winner of the giner-
bread house which was made
by Deborah Carvell and
Glenda Belair was Ernest
(Soni) K. Laws of Vanastra.
Deborah Carvell and
Glenda Belair are going
through to be a leader so
good luck to both of them.
