(James Fitzgerald photo) Goderich doctor on working tour GODERICH - Dr. Saidullah Kahn, chief clinical psychologist of Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, is on a working holiday that will take him to England, Turkey, Pakistan and India. Dr. Kahn's first stop will be in London, England where be will be lecturing for one week on clinical psychology at the University of London. Following the lecture series, he will visit Turkey, Pakistan and then to India to teach medical hypnosis at the J.N. Medical College. Dr. Kahn has a PhD in psycology from the University of London, England and has worked in Canada from Manitoba to Newfoundland. He has taught graduate courses in psychology at the University of Ottawa and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in Toronto. In 1978, Dr. Kahn joined the staff of Alexandra Marine and General Hospital. Easy Budget Terms Hensall news and notes By Bertha MacGregor Hensel' United Church Choir presented a "Christmas Festival of Music" to a full house on Sunday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m., when the choir, under the direction of Dr. Ralph Topp, brought many beautiful Christmas an- thems before the audience. Mrs. Marilyn Zivkovic of Exeter was the Guest soloist, inspiring the congregation with her two solos "Down From His Glory" and "Jesu Bambino". The choir presented the Christmas story through their Christanas anthems: "Gift Of New Sight" by Klusmeier, "In the Bleak Mid -Winter" by Darke, "Nativity Tale" by Belyea, The Three Carols "Sleep Sweet Babe", "Jesus Of a Maiden Thou Wast Born," and "And A Babe Is Born" by Meek, "Child Jesus Came To Earth" by Hatch, "The Three Kings" by Cornelius and Wilcox, "Follow The Star" by Hurlbutt, "What Is This Lovely Fragrance" by Willan, "The Bells are Ringing" by Lupton, "For Unto Us A Child is Born" by Car tet, "Sussex Carol" English Traditional, and "He Is Here" by McGlohon. Taking solo parts in the anthems were Gail Shaw, Carol Stuart, Donna St. John, Belva Fuss Doug Mock. The evening was interspersed with Carols by the congregation and The Christmas story read by members of the choir. Readers were Gail Shaw, Don McCaffrey, Jean Cole, Carol Stuart, Richard Packham, Ron Mock. The evening was closed with a prayer and Benediction by Rev. McDonald. At the close of the service, much appreciation, was expressed through the audience, and Mr. Eric Mansfield, chairman of the Worship Committee, ex- pressed on behalf of the congregation and visitors appreciation to the choir and Dr. Topp the organist and Choir Director not only for - the very fine service presented, but the tremendous support and quality of music presented each 'Sunday. He then presented Dr. Topp with a gift in appreciation. 'Christmas Eve service The members of Hensall Ilnited Church celebrated a candlelight and Communion service on Christmas Eve, when Rev. Stanley McDonald 'conducted the service and the story of the first Christmas was read, assisted by two narrators, Miss Sheila Riley and Glen Slade. The Christmas candle was lit at the start of the service and candelabra were lit on the west side of the church and in front of the pulpit. The choir entered carrying candles in a processional and proceeded to the choir seats. At the beginning of the service they sang, "What is this lovely fragrance?" by Willan and during the Christmas Story, Miss Betty Beer sang, "0 Holy Night". The story of the first Christmas was told by biblical quotations by the narrators, the congregation joining. in with carols. The Sacrament of Communion became part of the service. CLOSED, JAN. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Pepper greeted worshippers at the door and ushers were Jeff Corbett, Brian Beer, Dr. Goddard and Ken McLean. Family service A Christmas Family Service was held at Hensall United Church on Sunday December 27 with Rev. Stanley McDonald con- ducting the service and Mrs. Joyce Pepper at the piano. The junior choir supplied the introit with "Come along with me to Jesus" conducted by their minister and during the service sang and led in prayer with "Our Christmas Prayer". Following the benediction they clased'with a choral prayer, "Come, Lord Jesus, conA.e and be born in my heart ". Soloists from the junior choir during the service were Pam Gackstetter singing, "Child in a manger", and Wayne CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1981—PAGE 9 Scotchmer singing, "What can I give Him?" A trio of boys alsosang, "As lately we watched". Mrs. Belva Fuss contributed greatly to this family service with two solos, "Birthday of the King" and "Star of the East". A duet by Miss Betty Beer and Miss Melissa Veal combined to give us the "Story of Silent Night" with Betty accompanying on the guitar and Rev. McDonald acting as narrator. Rev. McDonald's message was "The shadow over the manger". The birth of Jesus Was good but the evil wishes and acts of Herod foreshadowed the rejection by men of God's gift to them, which ultimately led to the cross. God's gift was His Son. The cross reminds us how far we have to go for peace on earth. Jesus was God's gift to mankind - what is our gift to Him? The ushers for the service were Jeff Corbett,Brian Beer, Ken McLean and Cecil Pepper and Steve Corbett welcomed at the door. A Here's hoping that 1982 holds Tots of lucky surprises for you.
