SED CHRISTMAS EVE DEC. 24 STARTS ERI., DEC. 25 AT 8:,80 P.M.
Half Back discounts, time is
running out. The program
ends December 31.
The 1981 promotion which
began July 1, invites the
public to use non -winning
Wintario tickets for
discounts on admission to
eligible, performing arts
events or on the purchase of
Canadian mass market
paperback books by
Canadian authors at par-
ticipating retailers. People
can use up to four Wintario
tickets for a $2 discount on
admissions to performing
arts events, and up to two
Wintario tickets for a $1
discount on paperback books
at participating retailers.
Over 250 arts groups
(including Goderich Little
Theatre and the Blyth
Summer Festival) and
hundreds of paperback
retailers have been honoring
the discount over the past
five months. Results to date,
indicate that Half Back has
significantly increased
public interest in these
areas.
The Ministry of Culture
and Recreation has
produced a Half Back guide
to eligible performing arts
events which is available
free of charge at public
libraries, community in-
formation centres, theatres,
bookstores and many places
where Wintario tickets are
sold.
Most eligible paperback
books can be identified by a
Half Back sticker at par-
ticipating retailers
displaying Half Back
promotional material.
CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23,1981—PAGE 21
.Legion draw huge success
By Steve Cooke
According to all reports,
the Christmas Draw was, as
usual, a huge success. Over
150 people turned out on
Saturday night to ' share
some festive spirit (and
spirits) while they waited for
their name to be drawn.
As usual, there were lots of
prizes and.they were spread
around fairly well. Because
of the accelerated deadline
this week, we don't have a
list of any of the winners, but
.I'm sure John will have
something to say about it all
next week.
The tickets for New Year's
Eve are going fast, so if you
want some, better get down
to the bar soon. The New
Year's Eve celebrations at
Branch 140 are always well
attended and well worth the
$25 a couple. Don't wait and
be disappointed.
Coming up on January
10th is the Branch bowling
tournament. It will start at 1
P.M. and 5 -pin will be the
order of the day. If you wish
to participate, the list is up
on the sports board for you to
sign.
I'll remind you again of the
Bonspiel in Stratford on Jan.
23rd. It's being held at the
Stratford Country Club and
costs $60 per team, which in-
cludes prizes and supper.
The closing date for registra-
tion is Jan. 10th, so better

In men's euchre last week,
C. Ball took top honours with
a high score of 84, while Phil
McCabe brought up the other
end with a score of 42, and E.
Kerr won most lone hands
with six.
In darts, Joyce and John
Scott got together for a
change and won the high
couple. I wonder if they're
doing any secret practicing
at home? Addie Graham and
Art Riseley had the distinc-
tion of being low couple.
Rosemary Armstrong had
high lady's score with a 140
and John Greidanus high
man with a 108.
