Kippen East W.I. enter-
tained their families and
friends at their Christmas
party held in Hensall United
Church Fellowship Hall on
Dec. 16.
The meeting began by
singing Institute grace
followed by a hot beef din-
ner. Harold Parsons had the
lucky plate. Ruby Triebner
had the deepest lace on her
slip. Ernest Whitehouse had
the most letters in his name.
Jim Parsons had the most
change in hic pocket and
Jack Sinclair had the correct
'length of toilet paper,
Margaret Hoggarth and
Frances Kinsman captained
the sides for the relay races.
Two skits entitled "Water"
and "Cooperation were
presented by Bill Kinsman,
Paul Hoggarth and Janet
Hoggarth. They were in-
troduced by Mrs. Hoggarth.
Stan Paquette of Goderich
showedthe pictures he took
while conducting the Beef
Producers' tour to Alaska,
Yukon, Peace River and
down the Inland Passage. He
was introduced by Mrs.
Robert Kinsman and thank-
ed by the P.R.O.
Several Christmas songs
were sung with Mrs. Ross
Broadfoot at the piano. A
skit was presented by Mrs.
Kinsman and Mrs. Hoggar-
th. Santa Claus, a most
entertaining Santa,
distributed gifts to all.

Brucefield news

The Brucefield United
Church Sunday school
' concert was held last Sunday
afternoon and the words of
welcome were given by Rev.
R. McMullen, and Mts. Jim
Cooper, the superintendent
, was the mistress of
ceremonies.
Ron Fleming and Barbara
Livermore were in charge of
a sing song, and a poem read
by Ben Rathwell. The kin-
dergarten class gave the
number' "Ring the Bells' and
Barbara Fotheringham
played "Jolly Old St. Nick"
''-and Lori Livermore played
Christmas carols. The
primary class number was
the Christmas symbols, and
a recitation "presents" was
given by Krista Rathwell.
The Junior class gave the
best gift of all, and Mrs.
Elsie Henderson entertained
by playing the bells. The
meaning of Christmas
number was given by the
intermediate class, and Jodi
Horton and Scott Rathwell
recited "Bed Bugs". The
junior class number was
"Suet in the Soup".
Santa Claus gave presents
to all the children at the close
of the program.
The December meeting of
Stanley unit of the Brucefield
UCW enjoyed pot luck dinner
on Wednesday at the church
hall to open their meeting.
The minutes of the
November meeting were
read by the secretary, and
the roll call was answered by
each giving a Christmas
thought.

Christmas like a home
Christmas', and Jean
Henderson Ied in the wor-
ship, opening with a poem
'We the believers and the
Christmas story' was read
from Luke chapter 2 8-20.
The offering was received
and dedicated. The next
story was about presents
given to a mother and
children by strangers in
union station, and the third
story about a UCW group in
Labrador and their help at a
community Christmas tree.
Several cards were signed
for the sick and shut -iris.

Brucefield UCW hold Christmas meal

Tuckersmith Unit 1 held
their Christmas pot luck
dinner and meeting on
Tuesday, December 15 when
a delicious meal was enjoyed
by all, followed by devotions,
led by Mrs. Beatrice Stoll
and Mrs. Doris Sillery.
Mrs. Sillery opened with a
poem "A Candle Wish" and
Hymn "Away, in a manger
was sung with Mrs. Ann
Broadfoot at the piano. Mrs.
Stoll chose her meditation on
"Hope" and a story on "Why
Christmas trees are not
perfect"
A poem "The Priceless gift
of Christmas" was read by
Mrs. Sillery and Hymn '0
Little Town of Bethlehem'
was sung.
Mrs. Hazel McCartney,
president, welcomed
everyone to the meeting, and
she thanked the devotion
leaders for also taking the from
general meeting navotion,
and read a poem "Christmas
is a Silver Star". A moments
silence was observed in
Memory of the late Mrs.
Monica Calwill followed by
the23rd Psalm.
The roll call was answered
with a Christmas Wish by 16
members; and Mrs. Berry
reported for the treasury.
Thank you cards were read
Bob
and
Jane
McNaughton, John and. Bill
Calwill and Russel and Helen
Dallas. A Christmas letter
was read from a former
paster, Rev. and Mrs.
Stephens.
Captains for the 1982
pennies are Mrs. Beatrice
Stoll and. Mrs. Grace
Chapman. Mrs. Doris Sillery
and Mrs. Marjory Broadfoot
were nominated to make up
the 1982 schedule, and
Unit 1
the same slate of officers
were re -appointed for 1982.
The project for the January
12th meeting will be a bake
sale.
Thanks went out to the
ladies in charge of serving
the lovely dinner and the
attractively decorated
tables, and an hour of fun
was held including games
etc. and slides shown by Mrs.
Jean Henderson.
