played the organ and
Charlotte Norman played
the piano for the Christmas
music. The choir sang a
special Anthem. Jackie Nor-
man favoured the congrega-
tion with a solo.
Mrs. Betchel told the
children a story about the
birthday we are celebrating
this week with the children
all singing Happy Birthday
Jesus. Rev. Betchel spoke on
the Christmas story as told
in the Gospel of John.

Children's party well attended
The Bayfield Lioness held
their • annual children's
Christmas Party on Satur-
day with a good crowd in a
tendance. After a
delay, the children were
entertained with a puppet
show put on by the girls of
the United Church Sunday
School
Following the show the
kids were treated with ice
cream and cookies which led
up to the much awaited visit
from that famed man in red,
Santa Claus. The „children
were each given a chance to
sit on Santa's knee and ex-
plain any last minute re-
quests they had for
Christmas Eve.
With their spirits still high,
the party moved downstairs
for an hour of free skating
for the children donated by
the Lioness. Even Santa
found time to take advan-
tage of the ice time as he
bound on the old blades and
skated with the kids.
A special thanks to the
Bayfield Lioness for putting
on the party.

little black paw. I ventured
to stroke his little black head
but he shrugged me off.
During the course of this
conversation his two compa-
nions had begun to move
away towards the back of the
building, from the front of
which more people were
emerging to board the bus.
"Fred," I begged growing
more desperate, "think of
the children, think of the
boys!" For a moment he
hesitated and I thought he
would respond to this appeal

His little furry figure reel-

on his shoulder. Then he
came level with his new
