This was the recent warning issued by Wingham town council as they had their first look at the proposed budget for 1982. The budget, prepared by the general government and planning committee, . projects a rise in spending to $19-mlbion net year frau $1.65.million this year, an increase of 16 per cent. To meet that figure, however, property taxes would have to rise by 22 per cent to $1.4 - million, a jump that some councillors objected is en- tirely too much to swallow. The team, consisting of B111 Jenkins, Gayton Ellis, Bill Marsh and Joe Maddeaux, Unbind fifth ort of 13, and qualified for district com- petition in Brussels in February. The prize money earned was donated to the building fund. At mixed darts, Joyce Scott and Terry Hofinshead took high couple, while Karen Greideatzs and Doug Coventry toot low couple and the ladies and mens high scares were taken by Addie Graham with 111 and Don Armstrong with 127. Saturday night is a big right at the branch. Thats when we hold our GTuristmas draw party. Everyone is welcome whether they have purchased tickets or net, so there is still time to get your name in the draw. Tickets are only 25 cents, and ad- mission is free. Tickets are still available for our New Year's Peaty at $25 per couple. Music is being provided by New Dimensions. Believe me, it tasted as good as it soumdh. Many thanks go to the well dressed gentlemen who waited on the tables and also to those hardworking, diligent tireless men who washed dishes. Now it's time to blow our own horn. Our branch, in my opinion, is one of the most active in our area and contributes greatly to the quality of life in our town. Still at the hospital, our branch picks up the tab for a T.V. cable hook- up in the sun roam. We recently received a letter from M.P.P. Jack Riddell praising our pipe hand, who have won many awards for best band in parades including Toronto's Warrior's Day Parade and the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. We may live in small town (hints, better here than in some larger communities, hat we have a big branch, with a big heart.
