The Ladies of Ontario
Street Church U.C.W. held
their general meeting,
December 1, under the
leadership of , Valena
Trewartha. Singing of carols
was enjoyed followed by a
Christmas Prayer with the
afternoon unit ladies con-
ducting the devotional
period.
Gladys Van Egmond
played her accordion, ac-
companied by ladies picked.
at random to sing familiar
songs and play in the rhythm
band. This being a new
experience for most.
Rev. Pick showed a film to
help introduce the new study
book, "Living Between
Memory and Hope".

Local couple wed
in fall ceremony
Autumn leaves and yellow
mums surrounded the altar
of Knox Presbyterian
Church in Bayfield where a 4
pm ceremony on October 10,
1981 united in marriage
Mary Lynn Talbot and Paul
Gibson.
Lighted candelabrum
completed the setting for the
double ring ceremony
performed by Rev. Dennis
Clarke from Sarnia. Music
was provided by Jackie
Johnston and soloist Pete
Postill.
The bride is the youngest
daughter of Mrs. Ruth
Talbot and the late George
Dewar (Bud) Talbot of
Bayfield and the groom is
the youngest son of Joe and
Isabel Gibson of RR 2,
Seaforth.
Given in marriage by her
mother and her brother, the
bride was escorted un the
aisle by her brother Brian
Talbot of Bayfield. She wore
a floor -length ivory chiffon
gown, with long sheer
sleeves. The dress featured a
high Victoriari neckline with
a stand-up collar and chiffon
ruffle. The full skirted gown
- fell into a medium length
train at the back. To com-
plete her outfit she wore an
ivory colored picture hat
with lace on a three lace
chiffon flounce. The hat was
trimmed at the back with a
rose and enhances with
French Illusion fingertip
veil. The bride carried an
arm bouquet of deep plum
colored roses, magnolias,
accented with ivory colored
baby's breath
Maid of honor was Lori
Talbot of RR 3, Bayfield, a
niece of the bride. She chose
a long plum colored gown,
featuring spaghetti shoulder
straps and a draped skirt
with lettuce stitch edging.
Her matching sheer cape
also featured the lettuce
stitch hem and draped in the
front to match the skirt. She
carried a nosegay of ivory
roses, magnolia and baby's
breath. She also wore sprigs
of baby's breath in her hair.
Bridesmaids were Brenda
.McLean of RR 2, Goderich, a
sister of the bride; Cindy
Talbot of RR 3, Bayfield, a
niece of the bride: Elizabeth
Gibson of RR 2, Seaofrthm a
sister of the groom and
Sherri Talbot of RR 4,
Goderich, niece of the bride.
They were gowned in dresses
styled similarly to the maid
of honor's and each carried
silk nosegays and wore
baby's breath in their hair.
The best man was Bill
Campbell of RR 3, Bayfield,
a friend of the groom. Guests
were ushered into the church
by John Gibson of RR 2,
Seaforth, brother of the
groom; Marvin Merner of
Bayfield, friend of the
groom; Ken Jewitt of
Seaforth, brother-in-law of
the groom and Mark McLean
on RR 2, Goderich, brother-
in-law of the bride.
Following the ceremony
the bride and groom were
chauffeured around town
and tothe White Carnation in
Hoknesville, in a limousine,
compliments to the
"Thursday Night Boys."
Master of ceremonies for
the evening was Rick Talbot
of RR 3, Bayfield, brother of
the bride.
For the occasion the
mother of the bride wore a
cocktail length mulberry
colored dress, featuring a
high neckline and full length
sleeves, accented by sequins
around the collar and cuffs.
Completing her outfit was a
corsage of pink roses.
The mother of the groom
wore a cocktail length
Wedgewood blue shaded
dress with a rounded nekline
and short split sleeves. To
complete her outfit she wore
a corsage of yellow roses.
Special guests in at-
tendance included the
groom's grandmothers, Mrs.
Florence Ludvigson and
Mrs. May Gibson.
The couple honeymooned
in Niagara Falls and are now
residing in Bayfield.
Prior to their wedding the
bride was feted at a com-
munity shower held at the
Knox Presbyterian Church
in Bayfield. A miscellaneous
shower was given by Mrs.
Ross Feagan and Mrs. Don
Harris, aunts of the bride, at
the home of Mrs. Feagan.
Another miscellaneous
shower was given by Lori
and Cindy Talbot and
Brenda McLean at the home
of Brenda McLean. A family
shower- for the bride and
groom was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chowen,
uncle and aunt of the groom
and a bathroom and laundry
shower was given by Mrs.
Shirley Elliott and Mrs.
Asa e Gibson of the home c
Mrs. Elliott.
Marion Powell, president
of the U.C.U. conducted the
business and a letter was
read from the Foster Child.
The 1982 budget waa
presented and accepted. The
ladies were reminded of the
congregational skating
party, January 10,1981.
The treasurer, Shirley
Elliott, %:.ve a financial
report of the "Festival
Bazaar", and many com-
ments were made on its
success.
The ladies enjoyed a
delicious lunch, followed by
a short fellowship period in
the newly decorated Ladies
Parlour.
Well known lady
dies in London
Florence Menzies
Florence Irene Menzies,
wife of Rev. Albert E.A.
Menzies, died in London on
Friday November 27, 1981,
where they had been living
since their retirement in
1968. She was born in London
Township on June 13, 1904 to
James and Susan Walls.
Irene Menzies is the
mother of Earl Beecher
Menzies Q.C. of Clinton; J.
Alexander Menzies Q.C. of
Toronto; and. Mrs. Douglas
(Marie) Bonds of London.
Mourning their grandmother
are nine grandchildren;
Robert, Margot, Marianne
and Beecher of Clinton;
Geoffrey, James and
Meredith of Toronto, and
Randall and Carolyn of Lon-
don. Mrs. Menzies is surviv-
ed by one brother, Earl M.
Walls of London.
Rev. and Mrs. Menzies are
well-known to many people
in the Londesboro communi-
ty, where they served the
United Church from 1938-
1945. At that time, she was
organist and choir leader in
the church.
The funeral service was
held at the Needham
Memorial Chapel in London
on Monday, November 30,
1981 at 1:30 p.m. with the
Rev. R. Maurice Boyd D.D.
officiating. Interment was in
Littlewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six
nephews; George Thomp-
son, John Walls, Douglas
Walls, Harold Walls,
Michael Starodub, and Reid
Menzies.
Since retirement, the Men-
zies have been active
members of Metropolitan
United Church in London.
For the past several years
they acted ea -a team in con-
ducting a front ly church
service at Marian Villa and
St. Marys Hospital in Lon-
don, during which Rev. Men-
zies preached the lesson and
Mrs. Menzies provided the
music.
Irene Menzies, her
musical talent, and her
vivacious personality will be
sadly missed by family and
friends alike.
CPTA leader resigns,
vice-president fills spot
On. Tuesday Dec. 1 St.
Joseph's Catholic Parent-
Teacher Association held an
executive meeting in St.
Joseph's School. President
Marg Hoskin announced
that she and her
family are being moved
away on account of her hus-
band's business, so vice-
president Mary Garon would
be installed as acting presi-
dent.
We were all sorry to see
Marg leave, but hopefully all
her efforts will be carried
through as she has been a
very active, outstanding per-
son.

In old business, it was
reported that last month's
scrambled egg day was a
very good success and next
month the . C.P.T.A. will
sponsor another hot dog day.
The Zehrs and IGA tapes
were collected and sent to
their stores from which the
C.P.T.A. deposited $42.74
from Zehrs and $50.41 from
I.G.A. Save a Tape Plan into
their bank account. Many
thanks to all the friends,
relatives and neighbours for
saving their grocery tapes
and sending them with the
children to the sgmol, please
keep The next meeting will be
an executive meeting on
Jan. 12 to plan the upcoming
events after the Christmas
rush when everyone has a
chance to settle to a normal
routine again.

Honeymoon to
northern Ontario
St. Peter's Catholic
Church in Zurich was the
setting for the October 31st
wedding of Angela Kathleen
Talbot of Bayfield and Jean-
Pierre Laporte of RR 2,
Zurich.
The groom's mother Mrs.
LH Laporte decorated the
church with flowers and the
double ring ceremony was
conducted by Father Ben-
sette..Special wedding music
was supplied by organist
Mrs. Henry Rau and soloist
Mm Denomme.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Talbot of
Bayfield and the groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jean
M. Laporte of RR 2, Zurich.
For her special . day the
bride wore a long white
®own, . featuring long sheer
sleeves and a high neckline,
accented with lace and
pearls. She wore a western -
styled hat covered in lace
and pearls, and accented on
one side with a white flower.
To complete her outfit the
bride carried a bouquet of
wine roses and pink daisies.
Miss Janet Kaptien of
Bayfield was the maid of
honor. She wore a floor -
length wine colored gown
with sheer cape sleeves. She
carried a bouquet of pink
roses and wine tinted
daisies.
The bridesmaids were
Karen Armstrong of Clinton,
Huronview honors Elsie
There was a presentation
made to Mrs. Elsie Hen-
derson at Huronview's
Sunday morning service
recently by Sarah Carter and
Margaret McQueen. The
presentation was given to
Elsie in appreciation for the
number of years that she had
played throughout the
building and at the Sunday
services. Another presen-
tation was made to Rev.
Wittick for needy children
and families.
The Lakeview Mennonites
toured Huronview on Sunday
aft°emoon singing, while on
Sunday evening a hymn sing
was held.
Music appreciation was
held on Monday afternoon,
when small children added
to the program presented by
Rrenrf a Fe,wwai Igo frmmn
Auburn and M. Morrison
from Blyth. The Christmas
story was told very ef-
fectively with their small
children acting out the roles.
It was thoroughly enjoyed by
theOver90 Club.
Bible Study was held in the
chapel on Thursday af-
ternoon, and Thursday also
saw the setting up of all the
Christmas trees and
decorations and the home
has taken on a very f e
appearance.
Mass was held in th
chapel on Friday morning
while on Friday afternoon, a
good turnout of residents
enjoyed many games of
Bingo.
Sympathy is expressed to
the families of Mary Fisher
and Charles Anderson.

casion the bride's mother
wore a sheer mauve colored
street length dress, accented
with a burgundy corsage.
The mother of the groom
wore a light pink colored
street length dress, com-
pleted with a rose corsage.
The couple honeymooned
to northern Ontario and are
now residing at RR 2, Zurich.
The bride is using gifts given
at showers held by Shelly
Laporte and Lil Laporte,
sister and mother of the
groom, at St. Peter's Hall
and a second shower held at
the home of Brenda Arm-
strong.

Muriel Jones thanked Rev.
Broadfoot for his message
and hoped his family would
have a blessed Christmas.
