Raises $782.21 in Poppy Drive
By Steve Cooke
Well, I guess I'm back in
the saddle again with some
catching up to do. In men's
euchre last' week, A. Fisher
won top honours with a score
of 87 while Dick Evans held
the distinction of being low
man on the totem pole.
Apparently, there were six
ties for the most ,low hands
and most of the people in -
Volved had left before a cut
could be organized, so we'll
report on the final outcome
next week
The Poppy Drive brought
in a total of $782.21 so a
special thanks is extended to
all those who helped collect
this amount, as well as to
those people who actually
purchased 'a poppy.
Everyone - knows that the
proceeds go to an extremely
good cause.
In darts, Cecilia Edgar
and John Scott teamed to
take the high couple score,
while Karen Greidanus. and
Brian Atkinson were at the
other end of the scale. Annie
Sallows was high lady with a
126 and Allan Pennie was
high man with a 156.
There is a mixed dart
tournament coming up in
Strathroy on Sat., Nov. 14th.
It's at Branch 116 on Metcalf
St., and there is a.$1000 prize
based on 40 ,teams entering
(or so the poster says).
" Entry fee is $29 per team
with registration ending at
11:30 a.m. Play will begin at
Noon on the button.
For you curlers in the
Branch, there is an
Invitational Bonspiel (Coming
up on Jan. 23rd, 1982, at the
Stratford Country Club. Only
two teams per branch Will be
allowed, and the first 16
teams to • register will be
accepted. It would be wise to
book early if you're in-
terested. More details are
posted on the sports board
downstairs. Maybe the
"Flying Scots" should dig
out the old brooms and start
practicing.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot.
John Scott had a couple of
horseshoes hidden
somewhere at the Huron
County Dart League games
last week. Apparently, he
threw a couple of 180's (must
