After a poem and hymn Mrs. Cliff Henderson read the scrip- ture. Mrs. Scott led in prayer; and the offering was receiv- ed and dedicated. After sing- ing a hymn the worship dos- ed with. prayer. Mrs. Scott read an article on Christiani- ty in- China under the Com- mtinists and the desire of the church to be self-reliant. Mrs. Henderson read the poem and the secretary read the minutes and the treasurer gave her report. Mrs. Retta Baird gave the card report and Mrs. Doreen Baird and Mrs. McGregor expressed thanks for cards, received. The meeting clos- ed with lunch served by the hostess and her helpers. +++ The first card party of the season was held at the IOOF Hall on Friday evening. Win- ners were: ladies' high, Mary Grigg; low, Jean Riley; lonehands, Marjorie Broadfoot; men's high, Ken Stewart; low, Percy Camp- bell; lone hands, Mac Wilson; special draws, Bill Rogerson and Ken Stewart. The next euchre will; be m two weeks on Friday, November 13. +++ Miss Jackie Taylor spent the past three weeks on a work assignment from Humber College and visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor. Mr. Gerald Aldwinckle of Hamilton spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Wilson. Mr. Wesley Ham of Hunt- sville spent a few days last week with Mrs. A. Ham and Miss M. Swan. Mr. Neil Mustard who has been working at Wawa is visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mustard. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Her- man, Tom and Tim and friend of London and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Losch of London visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Jackson over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hallam and Brenda spent a couple of days last week visiting near Surridge. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burdge of Owen Sound spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. R. Burdge and family. The Chessell gang got a buck Monday morning, shot by son Paul on his first deer hunt. Youth sentenced GODERICH - Edward Steward, 22, of no fixed address was sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to two charges of indecent assault in provincial court in Goderich Monday. Huron County Crown Attorney Garry Hunter said Steward was charged after two children, aged eight and nine were assaulted in July in a Clinton home.
