the Hallowe'en party,
Special Nursery
The theme for this week is
Hallowe'en. The children are
learning about pumpkins,
black cats and ghosts.
The conference. the
teachers attended last Fri-
day was a good learning ex-
perience. It was geared to
the Physically Handicapped.

School
On October . 26, the
Kindergarten and Grade 1
classes visited the Evan's
farm. They toured the barns
and saw all the animals.
They also had the opportuni-
ty to purchase their
Hallowe'en pumpkins.
On October.26, the doors of
the school were open from 7
to 9 p.m. for open house.
Parents and friends were in-
vited to come up to the
school to take 'a look and to
meet the staff.
In late November formal
interviews will be scheduled.
Our cross country team
has been practising, getting
ready for the :area cross
country meet that is schedul-
.ed 'for October , 28 at Ben-
niiller.
On October30 our teachers
will be meeting with other
area educators and will be
involved in professional
development activities.
Therefore the children will
not have classes on that day.

princess crowned

HOLMESVILLE - A 24 -
year -old Zurich girl was
crowned the 1981-82 Huron
County Dairy Princess at a
banquet here on Oct. 17.
Ruth Anne Zielman, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Dick Zielman of R.R.2,
Dashwood was crowned the
princess. Mary Ann Van
Dorp of R.R.2, Seaforth was
named the runner-up.
Following her crowning,
Ruth Anne said she was very
honored to have been chosen
as the princess. The
princess, the runner-up and
the two other contestants,
Karen-.MeMicbael. oL Wr
eter and Catty Van Plinhuys
of R.R.2, Bayfield were
showered with gifts from
various milk -related in-
dustries. The competition is
sponsored by the Huron
County Milk Committee.
Prior to dancing at the
banquet, the four girls gave
speeches on the history of
dairy farming. Ruth Anne
presented her topic in an
original angle, telling the
history from the point of
view of the cow.

Ruth Anne owns a florist
shop in Zurich and her hob-
bies include outdoor ac-
tivities, sewing, crafts, and
she sings in three choirs. The
chores of the dairy princess
are not all that new to Ruth
Anne, as two years ago, her
younger sister Susan, was
the Huron County dairy
princess. •

very confident that she could
handle the activities re-
quired by the princess and
she hopes to enjoy every
minute of her year.
The new princess was
crowned by the outgoing
princess, Dianne Oldfield of
the Seaforth. area. Dianne
told those present at the ban-
quet that she had enjoyed
her year as dairy princess,
and amongst her other ac-
tivities had visited 19 schools
in 11 days in Huron County.
Police okay
EXETER - In keeping with a
policy of the Ontario Police
Commission, the Exeter
police department was in-
spected in September and
the resulting report was
termed "very favorable."
Police committee chair-
man Gay lan Josephson sa id
the local facility and per-
sonnel were found to be quite
adequate and up-to-date and
the inspection resulted in
only a couple of minor
recd mmenda tions .
