By John Scott
Well, here we are again
after one week's absence,
but unfortunately I cannot
blame anyone else for last
week's non-appearance of
the. Legion news. Because of
the Thanksgiving holiday, I
got a little confused with my
days. I thought Monday was
Sunday and before I knew it,
it was Tuesday already. So
my apolgies to you all.
It would seem appropriate
then to give praise to the
staff of the Clinton News -
Record who, through all
adversities like renovations,
weddings and . Monday
holidays, always get the
tabloid out in time.
Before we let you know
about what's coming up,
let's find out who won or lost
at events held at the branch
over the last two weeks.
Atmixed darts on October
8, the high couple were
Rosemary Armstrong and
John Greidanus. The low
couple prize .was taken by
Brian Atkinson. Now I know
it says low couple and you're
probably asking yourself
• "How could Brian Atkinson
win if it's for couples?" Well
Brian and Brenda are runn-
ing darts this year so you
never know what to expect.
Karen Greidanus took
ladies' .high score and Alan
Pennie took the men's.
On October 15, the high
couple were Phyllis Butler
land. John Greidanus. Karen
Greidanus and Alan Pennie
took ladies' and men's high
scores..
Writing this I was thinking
to myself that I didn't write
John and Karen Greidanus
and Alan Pennie's names
much last year and that

carie to the low couple and
guehs Who took that prize?
Right age, George and
Madelon Yeats. At least you
won't have . to play with
Gegrge next week, Madelon.
George and Madelon
recently returned from a trip
to England which they en-
joyed very much.
Men's Tuesday night
euchre started on October 6
and, with 15 tables in play it
was a.very good turnout.
Last year's organizer, Bill
Marsh •took the high spot..
with an 84. John Semple had
the most lone hands with six
while Terry Dale had the low,
score. Comrade President
George Rumba.'" welcomed
all the players and then
waited on tables, donating
the tips to the building fund.
On October 13, we had
another good turnout and
John Semple took high score
with 86. Last week John had
83 so he is off to a good start.
Charlie Brandon took the
lone hands with five. Clayton
Ellis and Jim Watson were
tied for low but Clayton. won
(lost?) the cut.
Bill Marsh called me after
reading last week's paper
and not seeing his name so
that should make him happy.
Now if I could only find out
from Ed DeeVeahow to keep
Blanche happy.
The real reason Bill Marsh.
called was about zoned
sports for affiliate and
honourary members. Bill
has been our branch's
representative for affiliate
sports . but this year, due to
other demands on his time,
he would like someone else
to take .this job on: If you
think you might be in-
terested in taking it on, give
mea call.
Ladies Auxiliary Mixed
Euchre starts on Friday, Oc-
tober 23 at 8:30 p.m: in the
ladies lounge. Ladies are re-
quested to bring sandwiches.
