This year the councillors and the deputy reeve will receive $2,500 while the reeve receives $2,850. plus $150 for signing cheques. Clerk Mel Graham said the honorariums included pay for attendance at all special meetings. He added the pay was up about $250 from last year, but some of the councillors were paid extra in 1980 for committees, special meetings and conventions. The pay, one-third of which is tax free, also covers mileage for the council members. In other business at coun- cil's October meeting, five applications for $21,600 in tile drainage loans were ac- cepted. Council passed a motion to give out $36,400 in loans to six applicants. Graham said about $90,000 of .Stanley Township's allotment of $165,000 for tile drainage had been loaned out. Council granted approval for a pit licence to Kenneth Merner. The pit is to be located on part of lot 2, on the Bayfield road north conces- sion. There is "no use beating a dead horse" the clerk said of council's filing of a Township of Minto resolution calling for lower interest rates. Graham said council had already signed and forward- ed a similar resolution. Council was informed that the Huron County Board of Education would be collec- ting its tax allocation four times a year. Currently it is collected twice per year. Brucefielders enjoy card party by Isabel Scott Members of the UCW Brucefield held a dessert euchre on Wednesday inthe church hall. Winners were: most points, Mrs. Buelah McKay; low, Mrs. Debbie Burdge; lone hands, Hazel Parker. After the euchre a successful bake gale was held. Mrs. Robert Dalrymple has returned home after visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall and laughter and their new son st Nottawa. Sympathy of the communi- ;3/ is extended to Mr. Elgin Thompson and family on the Leath of his wife, Grace. Miss Joyce Broadfoot and Wiss Dianne Wilson, Lamb - on College, Sarnia, spent he weekend with their mrents. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Scott, Toronto, spent the weekend vith his parents, Mr. and vim Ken Scott. Tuckersmith UCW plan article sale The Tuckersmith Unit 1 met Monday evening Oct. 12, when Mrs. John Broadfoot assisted by Mrs. Jack Henderson in the absence of Mrs. Lince took the Devo- tions. A poem was read, and a hymn was sung with Mrs. Ann Broadfoot at the piano followed by another poem. The scripture was read from Philippians and Mrs. Broadfoot took her topic on being thankful every day for many things taken for granted. Another hymn was sung and a hymn of thanksgiving was read by Mrs. Henderson. Mrs. Wilson McCartney, the president, was pleased to see more members present and thanked the devotion leaders, expressing special thanks to the ladies, who had specially decorated the church altar in the Thanksgiving theme for the Sunday service. Mrs. Edgar Stole read the minutes and the roll call was answered by 14 members with a thanksgiving verse. Mrs. Vina Berry reported on the treasury and Mrs. Seldon Ross read a thank you card from Mrs. Vine Berry and nieces. The project for November 9th meeting at 2 p.m. will be an article sale. Lunch for the general meeting in November was discussed. Invitations were read from yfield Church for October 14 and Wesley -Willis Church Clinion October 25.
