Other offices are: vice-president, Kim Rathwell; secretary, Dana Klass. Representatives from the classes are: 8A, Bonnie Turner, Tracey Fansher; 8B; Lorelei Robinson, Glen: Rose; 7A, John Kalbfllesch, Vicki Speziale; 7B, Steve Beane; 6A, Lois 13innendyk; . 6B, Tracy St. Louis; 5A, Nancy Broad -foot; and ,5B, Kent Rathwell. •A new sign, bought by last year's student council has been put in place on the south side of the school. We welcome Miss Cathy Madill of Goderich, who is our new senior music teacher to the staff. Senior choir practice begins next week, and Mrs. LeBeau's 75 - member junior choir has had its first practice. Vision and hearing tests have been carried out on several students. This week, grade eight is taking part in the annual overnight camping and outdoor education session at Camp Sylvan, which in- cludes studies in orien- teering, meteorology, pioneer history, ecology, forestry, and a fossil search at Rock Glen. Story Hour in the library begins October 14th at 2:30, and parents are invited to \bring pre-school children for storiesand crafts. Our cross country and soccer teams are working hard every noon hour. We have 63 persons out for cross country. For soccer there are 29 girls and 25 boys practising. The soccer players are running with the cross country team and should be in top shape for the tournament which will be held here October 14th. In addition to the noon hour fitness program, we have two practices a week after school when Mr. Laurie and Mr. Walker help us with the skills and game plans. Cross country meet is set for October 28th. It will be held at the Falls Conservation Park at Bennmiller. We're looking forward to having a good course and keen competition from the other schools. School photographs will be taken Wednesday, October 14 and October 15th, so don't forget to wear a smile. Everyone is invited to open house at the school October 7th from 7-9 p.m., when parents can see the children's work and meet the teacher. • • Brucefield news Tuckersmith's Reeve Bob Bell drew the winning ticket at the firemen's meat draw on Saturday, September 26 and the winner was Mr. Steve Knight of Hensall. Stanley's Deputy Reeve Don McGregar drew Mr. Larry Ducharme of RR 1 Exeter as second winner. The third ticket drawn by Mr. Stewart Broadfoot fire chief of Brucefield was won by Mr. Clare McNichol of Clinton. Stanley unit meeting of the U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. Alex McBeath September 23rd. After the call to worship and a hymn Mrs. Pearl McBeath read the scripture and gave the meditation on gifts. Prayer was given by Mrs. Pearl McBeath and Mrs. Evelyn McBeath gave the world outreach message on work in Asia and concerns for the educational program and child care. The minutes of the August meeting were read and the roll called by the secretary Mrs. Isabel Scott. Mrs. Cliff Henderson gave the treasurers report and Mrs. D'Arcy Rathwell reported on plans for the beef supper and the dessert euchre on October 14th at I P.M. Mrs. Evelyn McBeath assisted by Mrs. Pearl McBeath served a delicious lunch. Mrs. Mabel Monteith of Landon visited lust weekend with her brother Mr. Seldon Ross and Mrs. Ross. Mrs. Hugh Berry visited in Wingham on the weekend and attended the funeral of her brother, Mr. Joseph E. Smith of Wingham. Sym- pathy is extended to her.
