Council news No objectbfs were ex- pressed by involved lan- downers when the Butlin - Dempsey Dalin Report was read at a spedal meeting of Goderteh Township Council September 15. B. Holdsworth of W.J. Bartlett Association was present to answer technical questions. Council passed a ;notion that the report be provisionally adopted and incorporated into by-law 17, 1981; and that the first sitting of the Court 'of Revision be held October 14 at 8 p.m. The township tile drain quota for the year has been set at $45,100 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food despite Ole fact that the township had been informed previously that the quota would be up to half of the 1990 initial quota of $123,800 and that the final quotas would be set after August when the needs were more fully listed. The clerk was instructed (to contact the Ministry to ascertain if any mistakes had been made and the Reeve volunteered to contact M.P.P. Jack Riddell regarding a meeting with the minister. A land severance request received from Garland for permission to sever an existing lot into two parcels, was dealt with as per questionaire. At a special meeting of township council September 18, Gary Davidson, Ann Marie Howard and Curdy Fisher of the Huron County Planning Department were present to explain the progress of the zoning by-law as prepared ' by them. A number of maps were shown to illustrate the land use as recorded by the Assessment Officer and the land use as presently known by the Planning Board The agricultural section of the by-law was discussed at length with the permitted uses under the zoning designations. The Planning Department representatives suggested that three meetings would be required, to study the entire by-law. Reeve Stirling set October 8 for the second meeting The clerk reported that a verbal agreement had been received form the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food to increase the tile drain quota from $45,100 to $61,900 for the year 1981. If this is verified by letter from the ministry, a balance of $4,100 would be available for loaning for the balance of the Dorothy Wallace to be honored by government By Helen Owen The Annual Meeting of tht Huron Branch of the A.C.O took place on September 15tt and started off with a poi luck supper at the Fall': Reserve Conservation Area • a very appropriate location. The members then ad• journed to the Forester's Hall for the business part of the meeting. Following the presentation of the annual reports, officers for 1982 were elected. Past Pres.: Mrs. Dorothy Wallace of Goderich; President: Mr. Nicholas Hill of Auburn; Vice Pres.: Mr. Kelvin Jer- vis of Clinton; Secretary: Mrs. Dorothy Reed of Goderich. Acorn Correspon- dent: Miss Kay Reid of Bayfield; Projects Chair- man: Mrs. Peggy Willock of Bayfield. It was announced that the annual Christmas dinner would be held at the Little Inn, Bayfield on Thursday November 26th. Another important an- nouncement was the annual meeting of the Heritage Canada Foundation, which would take place in Halifax from October 20th to 24th. This was of particular in- terest because during the course of the meeting, Mrs. Dorothy • Wallace, Past President of the Huron Branch is to be honored at Government House. In recognition of the ex- ceptionally fine restoration work she has carried out in Goderich, rand of the beautiful book which she prepared and edited on the occasion of the Goderich ses- quicentennial year, she will receive an award for Com- munity Services.
