The groom is the son of Mrs. Lorrine Young of Goderich and the late James Young and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jewell \'of R.R.4 Goderich. She wore a long sleeved white polyester gown with a pleated �d up collar, a bodice wset' with Belgian lace, and a softly pleated skirt, which flowed into a train. She carried a silk cascade, bouquet of dusty pink roses, daisies, blue miniature asters and pink miniature orchids. Maid of honer was Judy Fisher of Goderich, cousin of the bride and groom. She wore a long dusty rose gown featuring a Grecian neckline and -pleated shoulders. A pleated cowl neckline adorn- ed the back bodice. She car- ried a nosegay of flowers the same as the bride's with pink streamers. Bridesmaids were Jan Ginn of R.R.3 Clinton, friend of the bride; Janice Young of Goderich, sister of the groom; and Roberta Hays of Walkerton, friend of the bride. The bride's mother greeted guests wearing a blue sheer street length , thus with a pink and white carnation corsage. The groom's mother assisted wearing a Mac sheer street length dress with deep mauve and white carnation corsage. For a wedding trip nor- thern Ontario, the ` bride changed to a floral dress with black"trim and jacket. Mr.. and Mrs. Young will reside at R.R.2 Goderich. Prior to the wedding, a stagand.doeparty was given by members of the wedding party; a luncheon was held for the bride at the Maitland Country Club by Mrs. G. Hays and her daughter Roberta of Goderich; Taylors Corners presented the bride with a lamp from members of the Goderich Township community; a community shower was held at Benmiller organized by Darlene and Claranne Jewell, Cathy Fisher and Joan MacPhee; Bess Black and Olive Johnston gave a shower for the groom's relatives; and Gwen Fisher, Mary Pellow and Judy Fisher gave a family shower. Chris McNall of Blyth made all the silk flowers and corsages and arranged the candelabras.' The Sarah Hale Chapter, LODE, met at the home of Mrs. Clara Macauley on Tuesday evening, September 8. Elaine Townshend's note of appreciation for the chapter's donation to Alpha Huron was read. She also thanked the chapter . for honouring her as "Citizen of the Year" for 1901. The regent, Mrs. Florence Corrie, announced that the fall conference will be held in Sudbury. from October 2 to October 4. The annual golf tournament will be held at the Barrie Country Club. The chapter has received an invitation to dinner (October 21) from the Maple Leaf Chapter and the Ahmeek Chapter of Goderich on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the founding of their chapters. The St. Marys' chapters have invited the Sarah Hale Chapter to a Labrador evening on September 28. The regent reported that the National Chapter of IODE has presented to Prince Charles and his bride a watercolour painting of an Arctic scene by .Winifred Marsh. Mrs. Marsh lived for many years in the Arc , c where her husband w Anglican bishop. The speakers for the evening were Mrs. Peggy Rivers and Mrs. Ann Miller from the . Family and Children's Services (for- merly known as the Children's Aid Society). The name, was changed about four years . ago when the agency broadened its scope from only the protection of children to providing family services as well - family counselling, marriage counselling, and to helping mothers; especially young, inexperienced mothers, to learn and adopt "parenting" skills. In Clinton there is a need, Mrs. Rivers said, for a man to help two pre -teen boys who have lost their father. A parenting group is also about to be started in. Clinton. Volunteers, are needed to Work with the children when their mothers attend sessions. If any one is interested in helping with either the pre- bo)re or the children's group, please call Mrs. Rivers at . the Family and ChIIdreil's Services in Goderich -524-7356. Services convenor Lina Cochrane read a letter of thanks for the item; sent to Ogoki in the spring. p In her letter, Annie Achneepineskum told of the Hudson Bay store closing in Ogoki, leaving the inhabitants with no access even to milk for for their children. Ogoki can be reached only by plane or by boat (in warm months). The Indian band, after a month of living off the land, opened their own store, and Annie Ach (her short from for her long last name) has become the store's bookkeeper. The meeting was adjourned and a social hour followed. • Huronview news and notes Mass was held in the Huronview chapel on Friday morning, while on Friday afternoon, residents enjoyed an afternoon of bingo. Wittick preached the sermon and Frank Bissett played the Foriner Clinton resident dies Andrew Hasty Andy Husty ,of Innisfoil, Alberta and formerly of Clinton and Walsingham died on August .10th at the age of 48 -years in Innisfoil Hospital. Mr. Husty was born in Alvinston on September , 7, 1932 and moved to Clinton with his parents and sister in January, 1941. On January 14, 1956 he married Marjorie Cart- wright and thecouple resided in Walsingham until October, 1962. In October, 1964 they moved to Alberta and residedthere until the.. time of Mr. Husty's death. He is survived by his wife Marjorie and three e. daughters Mrs. Nanelle McNabb of Spruce Grove, Mrs. Cally Pearson of Red Deer, Mary of Edmonton and one son, Michael of Calgary. Two grandchildren, Chris McNabb and Mylissa Person, and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Husty of Tillsonburg also survive. Mr. Husty was predeceased by one; sister Annein April, 1976. Funeral mass was celebrated on August 15th from Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Innisfoil. Cremation folbwed- ' Donations were made 'to the Organ Fund of the church. Rev. Douglas Kaufman of Owen Sound officiated at the ceremony. The bride, Betty Lou, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Goron Maize of Lucknow and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrie Slade of Clinton. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white jersey gown with A- line skirt flowing into a chapel train The front and back lace bodice gathered to a stand up collar and the full ,sleeves had matching lace inserts and cuffs. A picture hat of the same lace held her full-length veil and she carried a bouquet of silk roses, stephanotis and ivy. Beverley Maize, sister of the bride of Orillia, was maid of honour.. She wore a cranberry -jersey gown with shoestring straps and three - tiered skirt: Her bouquet consisted of silk roses, pink mums and baby's breath. h'lowergirl, Heather McGee, niece of the bride of Goderich wore a long white Princess style eyelet gown with accenting pink bows. She carried a basket of silk pink and white mums. Ken Slade, brother of the groom of Cambridge was the best man. Both groom and best man wore matching brown pinstripe three-piece suits, white shirts and silk rose boutonniere. Shane Maize, nephew of the bride of Orillia was rirlgbearer. He wore a white jacket and shorts and matching white shirt with brown ruffle. Guests were ushered by Gerry Mototsune of Toronto and Peter Cameron of Clinton, friends of the groom. Heather Keffer of Kim- berley played the guitar and sang "The WeddingSong" at the beginning ofthe ceremony and "Watching the River Run" during the signing of the register. A reception was held later at the Rocklyn Hall. Beta Si Phi meeting held President Rita Poelman was, hostess for this year's first meeting of the Zeta Omega Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Eleven of our own Chapter attended and seven members from the Xi Epsilon Beta Chapter attended as well. Following' the opening ritual, Shirley Hackman, a social worker from the Huron Centre for Children and Youth gave ° a very stimulating talk on' the se ce provided by the n Centre and touched on many topics related to family counselling. Ms. Hackman has had five years experience as a social worker before coming to the Huron Centre in September of 1977. She said the purpose of the Centre is to provide counselling and assistance to families having big problems or small problems and, to help families stay together and live in harmony with special emphasis on children and youth. Following her talk, Ms. Hackman answered questions, from thefloor, touching on such topics as sibling rivalry, bed wetting and family life in general. . Rita then served a delicious lunch and a short meeting was conducted.' Members were informed of the Terry Fox Run scheduled for Sunday, September 13th° and the Seaforth Ciderfest on September 25th There was one secret Sister thank you and the meeting drew to a close with the members reciting the Closing Ritual.
