Brucefield news Members of the Stanley Unit of the U.C.W. met at the home off Mrs. Doreen Baird on Wednesday, and after the opening prayer, Mrs. Edythe Baird led in the worship, the theme being `School days for young and old'. Mrs. Doreen Baird read scripture and led in prayer. The secretary read the minutes and Mrs. Clifford Henderson gave the treasurer's report. Mrs. Doreen Baird, " assisted by Mrs. Edythe Baird served a delicious lunch. Shower A miscellaneous shower was held at the. church hall last Wednesday evening for Miss Karen McGregor R.N. After a short programme, Karen opened the many gifts and thanked everyone. Personals Edith Swan and Barbara Livermore returned home on August 24 after spending three enjoyable weeks touring England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Highlights of the trip were Edinburgh, Coventry, Dublin, Killarney, the Lake District, Bath and of course London. While in Landon, they viewed the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, The 'Tower of London, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and attended a church service in St. Paul's Cathedral. They were also able to squeeze in a quick trip to Brighton to visit their cousins who had visited Canada earlier in the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Hill and Robert have' returned from a trip to Western Canada. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hill at Medicine Hat and at Banff and Calgary. The sympathy of the com- munity is expressed to Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Campbell on the death of their eldest son, Hume of Englehart. Mr. and Mrs. David Triebner and Mr. and Mrs. Brian Triebner and son at- tended the antique engine show at Portland, Indianna. The 'service at the United Chuith will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Sept. 6th. Clinton bingo results Another successful season of monster bingo came to an close in Clinton on Monday evening. Dora Taylor of Seaforth was the grand prize winner of the evening, taking home the $1,000 jack pot prize. Mrs. Lapaine of Goderich won the $231 share -the - wealth prize while Marlene Chappel won another special game valued at $222.50. Florence Stevens of Goderich and Iva Reid of Hensall split the winnings in the$220.50 game. In regular $50 game, individual winners included, Winnifred Girvin of Dungannon, Mryna Waterfield of Goderich, Donna Hallam of Clinton, Dolly MacDonald of Listowel, Heather Hart of Clinton, Jean Gowing of Atwood, Jackie Melanson of Seaforth and Brenda Stewartson of Crediton. M. Morley of Goderich, Grace Hodgert of Bornholm and Ena Shipp of Clinton all split the winnings in one round. Donna Milley of Goderich, Nellie Gonnie of Goderich, Mrs. M. Batkin of Clinton, Helen Sootheran of Clinton, Marie Voisin of • Varna, Hilda Smale of Hensall and Grace Lit- tlechlfd of Goderich each took home a share of the prize money from the third ga me. Mary Jeffrey of Goderich, Linda Anstett of Brussels and Mary Morey of Seaforth won the fourth game while Lenore Bradley of Goderich, R. Johnson of Clinton, Nellie Burkholder of Blyth and Diane Milley of Blyth each took home money from the (text game. Grace Stoddart of Goderich, Shirley Kraft of Exeter, Mrs. Clair Wolfkamp of Mitchell, Marilyn Chappel of Seaforth, Rosie Geldhof of Mitchell and Ftalph Johnson of Seaforth also won a round. Sheila Layton of RR 5, Clinton and Nora Finnigan of Wingham also divided some winnings.
