Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor attended the semi- annual meeting of the On- tario Soil and Crop Improve- ment Association held near New Liskeard. Mr. Homer Coss of Lake Land, Florida visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnston. Bonnie Turner of Tuckersmith spent a few days with Elizabeth Lawson. Cathy Vello of Nova Scotia is visiting her mother Mr. and Mrs. Ken Vodden. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Clare McDougall were his uncle, Mr. and' Mrs. Keith McDougall. Cheryl and Dar- rell of Rockwood and Cathy's sister Mr. and Mrs. Bob Duncanson of Kitchener and all attended the Blyth Summer Festival and the country supper in Londesboro. Congratulations to Carol Jewitt and Richard Forbes who were married in our church n August 29th, many att nd the reception in Bl at the district com- munity centre. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter and Colleen spent a few days in Toronto visiting Glen's aunt, Mrs. Hazel Kerr and Margaret. They also attend- ed the Exhibition, a Blue. Jays ball game and visited Canada's Wonderland. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter, Colleen and Mrs. Cathy Johnston visited with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Carter in Simcoe on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Kelland and Thelma Ellerly spent the weekend with Mr. and - Mrs. Cy Murrelf in Orjangeville. Mr. and Mrs, Ross Millson of Woodstock visited on Saturday evening with her mother Mrs. Dora Shob- brook and were guests at the Forbes -Jewitt reception at Blyth community centre. Mr. Wilfred Glazier was admitted to Clinton Public Hospital on August 29th. Visiting on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick was her sister Irene Ferguson of London. Rev. and Mrs. Willis Hunk- ing of Elmira were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hunking on Sunday. Mr. Hunking was guest speaker at Hope Chapel cemetery decoration ser- vice. Visitors this week with Mrs. Alice Davidson and her mother Mrs. Frace Fairey on Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Danny Fairey Gordon and B.J. Aurora. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Greer Caroline and Debbie of Newmarket on Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Nor- man Lunau and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Wrn. Feige of Mt. Albert. Mrs. Bob Burns returned home on Sunday from spen- ding two weeks in London with Mr. and Mrs. Colin Paterson and Katie. A family gathering was held on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnston. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Keith King, Martha and Melody of Kincardine, Mr. and Mrs. Ian Hulley and Chrystal of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Vodden and Cathy, Vello. Church services will be back to regular service Sept. 6, with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. The Berean unit meeting is on September 8th at 2 p.m. in the church. Roll call asks to tell something interesting you did during the summer. The W.I. meeting will be held September 9th at 8 p.m. in the hall. The topic is Agriculture Conservation and speaker is Mr. Norman Alexander. Visitors will be the Goderich Township W.I. and the Clinton W.I. A bake sale will be held and everybody bring several ar- ticles. Roll call will name an old implement and what takes its place. Beverly Lee spent the weekend visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee and relatives after returning from her year teacher ex- change in Southern Califor- nia and a six week trip to South East Asia including Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Thailand and In- donesia. In Constance this week Personals Mrs. J. Merner of Kit- chener visited a Sunday recently with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Merner, Sandy, Julie, Michael and Shelley. .Michael returned to spend a few days holidays with his grandmother, and the girls are spending a few days with their auntand uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Merner and Wes of Waterloo. Mrs. J. Thompson held a trouseau tea on Sunday afternoon for her daughter Sharon. Grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Terence Hunter of Colborne Township, and Mrs. Mabel Nesbitt of Stratford, mother of the groom, poured tea, while Mrs. Vi Armstrong, great aunt of the bride, and Mrs. George Campbell, grand- mother of the groom, poured lemonade. Bridal attendants and friends showed the gifts to everyone. Foresters church service The Canadian Foresters District Council church service and picnic was held a recent Sunday at" the new hall. Rev. Stan McDonald of Hensall, Chaplain, was the minister for the serice and Mary Riley was organist. The hall had two beautiful baskets of gladiolas donated by Mary Riley. The lodges attending were from London, Atwood, Wallace, and Dorchester and High Chief Ranger: Ed Short from head office in Brant- ford also attended, as did Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hill. Mary and Muriel McClure conducted the sports for the afternoon's enjoyments. Results were: youngest baby, Crystal Hulley; most articles in purse, Ramona Jamieson; guessing jelly beans in jar, Ed. Short. The potatoe dance was won by Jim Jamieson and Janice Preszcator. The children's games were conducted, with Darlene Hulley winning the kick the slipper and Jonathan Powley winning the race for his age group. Robert Reynold,Bob and ancy Jo of Southfield, Michig ; Mr. and Mrs. Andy Tho son and Jeffrey of Oakville; r. and Mrs. Klaus Breitba and Karen of Matawan, Ne Jersey; and James Joslyn f Long Island, New York. They all attended the wedding of Brian Nesbitt and Sharon Thompson in the Londesboro United Church, followed by the reception in the Blyth Community Centre. Congratulations to the newly weds. Mrs. Ruth Kuchenbecker, Harriet and Edwina Meyers, all of Ashland Ohio spent the weekend with Mrs. Mary Scott, John and David, they also attended the wedding. Jack Duckworth was second with Emma C Lee for Carman Kerr of Goderich, while Gerry Roebuck finished third with Nancy Meadow that he co-owns with George Feagan of Goderich. Linlor Liz had her first lifetime win in 2:13 with Brad Vanstone driving for Holmesvrlle Valley Farms of Clinton. George Lavis trains the four-year-old pacing mare by Skippys Pride C - Avon True Lee, that has also had 'one second and two thirds from seven starts in 1981. Bill Woodburn finished second with the two-year-old Armbro Nadir filly Early Dol for partners William G. Baker and Robert E. Caldwell of Hensall. Dandy Creek had her second win this year with a 2:12.4 mile in the tenth. The five-year-old mare by Shiaway Lad, owned by Bill Bradley of Goderich, was driven by Ross Baffin. Last year she took a 2: 07.1 pacing . record. Bob Vanstone of RR 4, Goderich was second with his Dainty Meadow, while Randy Henry took third with Betty T. Freedom for Charlie Brindley of Goderich. Quick Almahurst finished fourth for owner - trainer -driver John Muir of Seaforth before he was claimed from the race for $1,500 by George Hill of Southwold. Rip-KSB Chief by Irish Chief is owned by Gorlyn Acres, composed of Gord Rapson, his son Bill and daughter Cindy of RR 3, Clinton, and was driven to his second lifetime win by Tom Strauss. Gorlyn Andy spent the winter months at Hawkinsville, Georgia with Bill and Cindy, but returned home this spring and won his qualifying race at Clinton on June 28 in 2 :13. Bill gave him a 2:,11.1 record in his third lifetime start at Goderich on July 23. Jerry H. Direct was third at Elmira- Raceway on August 24 for Fred Maguire of Ailsa Craig. He is the tenth foal from Fred (Pete) Fowler's broodmare Sadie Bars, raised near Lon- desboro. At the same track on Friday night, Manoticks Victory, owned by Ian Fleming of Clinton, won in 2:10.1, and Kenmarou Castlee was third in a 2:05.1 mile for the Wayne Horner Stable of Clinton.
