A number ,ql Kippen area residents at tended the funeral or Wednesday. Don Kyle, who has been in business in Nova Scotia, has been moved to Penticton, B.C. Tom Munroe and Ian holidayed in the Huntsville area. Janice Moore, Hay River, N,W.T. visited with relatived in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gackstetter in Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Anderson and Mrs. Frances Upshall attended the steam and tractor show in Caro, Michigan. While in Caro they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Love and also visited relatives in Marlette, Michigan. The Kippen Gun Club met August 25 with the following scores: 25's, Tom Middleton, Bill Cochrane, George Hamm, Glen Mogk; 24's, Bert Mahaffy, Geoff Lahn, Jim Butcher, Al Kyle, John Anderson, Don Anderson, Dan Crerar; 23's, John Van Lob, Paul Johnson, Bob Caldwell, Grant McGregor, Gladys McGregor; '22's, Roy Lamport,. Jim Darling, Charlie Hutchins, 21's, Ed- win Miller, Dale Passmore; 20's, Harold Smith, Fred Hamm, 19's, Steve Cresces; 17, Mery Batkin and 16 Barry Miller. • Kippen shoot More than 40 competitors took part in Sunday's third annual Memorialshoot at the Kippen gun club. Jim Butcher was the top marksman in the 'A' division and received the Murray Baker Construction trophy. The runner-up was Bill Johnston and he was award- ed the Hyde Brothers trophy by Bob Caldwell. In the 'B' section, Joe Woods was the overall cham- pion after a shootout with Tom Smallman. Woods received the W. G. Thomp- son and Sons trophy from Brad Mann and the Ontario Gun Services trophy was presented to Smallman by Jim Butcher. The 'C' flight winner was Glen Mogk with John Hessels as runner-up. They received trophies from the Kippen gun club presented by Jamie Caldwell and Dan Crerar. After the Memorial shoot was completed, a shoot -off for a number of coats and hats was held. The winners were Jack Bell, Bob Caldwell, John Van Loo, Bob Ironside, John Anderson, Steve Thomas, Joe Woods, Kevin Iamport, Al Kyle, Bert Mahaffey, Jamie Caldwell and Dan Crerar. Providing these prizes were Bill Coleman, Pioneer Seeds; Vern Alderice, Dekalb Seeds; W. G. Thomp- son and Sons; Jim Cooper, Pride Corn; John Snell, John Deere; Chipman, Milton Dietz; Jerry MacLean and Son; Custom Trailers, Darl- ing's IGA and. George Woods Guns. The successful afternoon ended with a corn and pig roast. The club executive also wishes to thank Rathwell's for the PA system and Greg Campbell for cooking the corn. Now in fair condition A 16 -year-old Sebringville area youth is now in good condition at London's University Hospital two weeks after the small plane crash near Seaforth that took the life of his older brother and a family friend. Ronald Van Bakel of R.R. 1 Sebringville is improving. Martines John Van Bakel, 20, and Robert Van- derHyden, 19, died after the family plane clipped a tree and crashed into a bean field in McKillop Township in the • evening of Aug. 18. Both men lived at R.R. 1 Sebringville. No inquest will be held into their deaths. Coroner Dr. Raymond Flowers of Clinton says the crash was an accident, the plane was in good mechanical shape and nothing would be gained by an inquiry.
