became Prince of the Fair.

Susan Ryan, Shelly Stone,
Dawn Riley. Congratula-
tions to all participants!

Saturday was lead by the

playgrounds. Hobby and
craft day brought a good

the English sport of cricket
and played badminton if it
wasn't 'windy. The children
made party hats as part of
their craft and some of these
were really colourful!
This week, the final week
before (ugh!) school, the
children are attempting to
set some records on World
Record Day. They will be br-
inging along their friends for
this.
The . trip of the week on
August 19th was to Point
Farms Mini -Golf and
Goderich Goal. The kids did
pretty good at Mini Golf.
As you are reading this,
the trip to' Canada's
Wonderland is underway,
and the park is about to
receive a bus load of eager
children.

Five teams in tourney
The Vanastra and District
Lions Club sponsored a
midget soft ball tournament

teams were competing for
top spots in two divisions

team played the Vanastra
Bombers, but Blyth won 4-0,
putting Vanastra in the "B"
division. Saturday morning,
Blyth lost to Holmesville 4-3
in sudden death overtime.
The next game saw Monkton
beat Londesboro 15-7, put-
ting them in top spot in the
"A" division with
Holmesville.
The next game between
Londesboro and Blyth for a
spot in "B" division, saw
Londesboro edged out Blyth
by a score of 5-4. The "A"
championship was played
between Holmesville and
Monkton, with Hohnesville
winning the trophy with a
score of 6-2:
The "B" championship
between Vanastra and
Londesboro, saw Vanastra
win 16-9. The pitching was
the key in all the games, but
the finals showed the
strength of these pitchers
and the tight playing of the
team members.
The ball tournament com-
mittee would like to thank
the volunteer umpires.

Saturday as he tried to open his sack of bubble gum. Scott
was out enjoying the weekend Vanastra Country Fair
