FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE overcome handicaps the Bantam Boys took part in a tournament in Auburn and they played seven games, winning six to take the township trophy. They played continuous ball from 2:30 to 11 pm and any township fan who watched the game would have been proud to watch the boys play. In two of these games they played shor- thanded as Bill and Danny Van Ninhuys had to go home to Bothe chores and their one coach took them home and helped' them to get back as soon as possible. This meant that every ninth batter was counted as out, which is a serious handicap in ball. But thanks to excellent coaching of Del Schloendorf and Larry Powell, the team had good depth to be able to stand the heavy pace. Warming up for the Friday night garne a serious mishap sent one of Holmesville's players Doug Alexander, to University Hospital. He will be there for five days. Doug was hit in the eye with a hard hit ball, but hopefully the injury isn't too serious and he will be home in five or six days. Our squirt girls played at Vanastra for their year-end tournament on Saturday and won their first game, but advancing into the second game against Benmiller lost in a very close game and ®were eliminated from any future play. Thanks to AI Johnson and Pete Postill for their excellent coaching, as these girls have never played competition ball before. They are a team any coach would be proud of. The midget boys were entered in the Vanastra Country Fair Tournament and swept the series to take the cup. Their first game against Blyth they won 4-3 and they won their final game and the championship against Moncton. The pee wee girls played their year-end tournament in Varna on the weekend. They won their first two games and lost the third game to bring them in second best. To come in second in the tournament shows they've had excellent coaching by Gary Preszcator and Gary Martin. Don't forget our tour- namen' : coming up this weekend Holmesville hosts the pee wee boys at the school ar 1 new diamond. Turn to page 6 • \..
