Several people were sitting here playing cards and enjoyingthe
warm afternoon when an explosion suddenly rocked the Huron
Day Care Centre at Huronview. Last Thursday's accident sent
flying glass and debris in all directions and 11 people were in-
jured.
Clients at the Huron Day Care Centre were preparing for a fund raising rummage sale
when the quiet wing of Huronview was blasted into a state of disaster last Thursday
afternoon. The sale will be held at a later date, and Day Care workers will be looking for
public support.
The lawns of Huronview were filled with workers and wounded
last Thursday following the explosion. On duty Clinton Con-
stable Don Armstrong said that the emergency situation was
handled with complete care and efficiency.

The old Huronview auditorium, usually filled with Huron Day Care Centre participants
was quiet on Thursday, August 20th, until an explosion damaged a small wing of the
home. Tables and chairs were hurled through the air, windows were smashed, plaster
fell from the walls, and debris was strewn about the auditorium and adjoining Day Care
Centre. Damage has been estimated at $100,000.

Electric System Study
A major program for maintaining an adequate supply of
power to residents, the agricultural community and
industries in Southwestern Ontario is now underway by
Ontario Hydro.
The goal of this program is to select a system plan that
will maintain a reliable electrical supply to the area. improve
the connection of the Bruce Nuclear Power Development
Complex to the bulk transmission grid and maintain the
capability to Interchange power with neighbouring utilities
in Michigan
Six alternative transmission" systems have been
identified by Hydro to meet these needs. Public comment
on the alternatives is being sought before a preferred

A series of information centres is scheduled so
residents can review the plans and discuss the proposal
with Hydro staff. Plans call for Hydro to review the public's
comments and suggestions and then. as required by the
province's.Environmental Assessment Act, recommend
one of the alternative systems that incorporates major
technical. economic, land ise. and environmental
considerations
Members of the public are invited to attend one of
the information centres listed below. Hydro staff will be
on hand to answer your questions and discuss details of
the alternative transmission systems
