Local jitneys are still held every week, Tues- day and Thursday nights. Among the winners at these were Audrey Walsh, Edith Wright and Edna Baker for the women; Charles Wallis, George Wright, with Don Haines and Ralph Horne tied, were the winners for the men. Lonnie Matthews and Ken McDougall went to a tourna- ment at Mount Forest and were among the winners. At Exeter on August 12 Bert Gray and partner, Dave Col- clough, Cliff Ashton and partner, Lonnie Matthews brought home prizes. August 13 bowlers from here along with some from Lucknow, Goderich, Wingham, Seaforth and Exeter enjoyed . a bus trip to the Willowdale Lawn Bowling Club to see the Fourth International 1981 Women's World bowlers. There were 18 countries represented and it was M- teresting to see the colours on their hats, which were all white but different styles. It must have been difficult for the bowlers as the humidity was high and the sun quite hot. The Australian women had on long sleeved white dresses so they would feel the heat as they are ex- periencing winter in their homeland right now. On August 22 the Bankers' Tournament is here so the Clinton Club is hoping for a good turnout of bowlers and of course good weather.
