Rev. Bechtel welcomed everyone including visitors' Charlotte Norman and John Wyatt sang a duet and the.. minister's sermon was, The promise of the spirit. Bill Batkin and Carmen Tebbutt received the offering. Anniversary dinner A family dinner was held at Hotel Bedford in Goderich in honour of Betty and Ross Feagan's 35th wedding an- niversary. There were 25 guests present and following the dinner everyone was in- vited to Ruth Talbot's home in Bayfield where an open house was held. News and notes The community wishes to extend their get well wishes to Edna Jantzi who is a pa- tient in Clinton hospital. Visitors on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nor- man - were Vern and Christine Daw and Nelson of Sudbury, Cheryl and Valerie Norman of Parkhill; Mrs. Herb Hinz of New Hamburg, Ken and Gertie Trewartha of London, and Shirley Norman of Kitchener. Congratulations and good - wishes go to John and Karen Greidanus on their marriage last Friday in the Holmesville United Church. Blanche Deeves would like to say thank you to all who travelled with her on Sunday to Big Creek Boat Farm. at Caledonia. It turned out to be a beautiful day for the cruise. Mr. and Mrs. Albin were happy to see u5, the se- cond full bus in two weeks from our area, taken ,by myself on a Sherwood bus. Sorry we had .to leave some at home but maybe ne*t year we can go again. So thanks to all. My September trip will be to Midland on September 11, so call +,early for reserva- tions. October we will have a Mystery Trip and in November a trip to the Royal Winter Fair. Yvonne and Dale Mc- Conkey of Consecon, Ont. were visiting in the area. Ken and Kaye, Harris, Brenda and Heather travell- ed to Nanaimo B.C. and on the Island where they visited with Ken's sister Walley and Audrey Mottershead and family. They spent a month travelling through the western provinces and com- ing back through the USA. While out there they visited Stewart and Phyllis Schoenhals in Saskatoon, John and Marion DeRuyter. Bob and Bill and Edna Miller at Winnepeg, Manitoba. Mr. and Mrs. Graham Johnston former residents of Goderich township travelled to Vancouver taking Mrs. Johnston's mother Mrs. Peter Young who is 90 years of age, this being her first trip out of Ontario, she went to visit her sister who is 92. They have not seen each other for the past 14 years. The Johnston's took the North route through Ontario. Bessie Black of Clinton is the daughter of Mrs. Young. While in Vancouver they stayed with Lorna and David Grovers. Ball news On Monday the Midget boys defeated Tuckersmith township, they play their next game against Hallett township in Londesboro on August 19th. Their playoff tournament is August 29 in Benmiller. The Midget girls game last week in Londesboro was forfeited. Playoff tourna- ment has been set for midget girls on August 20 in Londesboro. The Bantam boys had their game last week cancelled. Next game will be on August 19 in Holmesville against Stanley township. The playoff tournament for Bantam boys is to be held on August 22 in Auburn. The pee wee boys are at home against Colborne township on August 19 We are hosting 'two playoff tournaments on August 29 in Holmesville for pee wee boys.
