has events

More excitement will be

Park during the month of
August. On Friday, August 7,
class -guitarist Ray Sealy
will' give a concert at 7 p.m.
Saturday, August 8 is
another movie night featur-
ing Danny Kaye in, "The
Secret Life of Walter Mitty."
Movies start at dusk in the
park and there will be a
silver collection with pro-
ceeds going towards Pioneer'
Park.
Other tenative movie
dates for August are: Satur-
day 15, "Treasure Island";
Saturday 29, Bad Day at
Black Rock with Spencer
Tracey; Saturday Sept. 5,
'Silent Movie Night' with
flicks featuring the likes of
Rudolph Valentino.
The Pioneer Park Associa-
tion Annual Meeting will be
held in the park on August 8
(Saturday) and everyone is
welcome to attend.
Blue Shadows
clinch second
in the league
The Bayfield Blue
Shadows clinched second
place in the Bluewater
Ladies Slo-Pitch League as
they travelled to Varna last
Wednesday and handed the
hometov¢n Agricos a 12-8 loss
in a come from behind effort.
The Agricos had' already
garnered top spot in the
league a week earlier by
beating the Babes 18-9.
The Bayfield Babes game
with the Buckettes in Zurich
was rained out and will, be
replayed on Tuesday,
August 4.
The playoff dates have
been set and the Varna
Agricos will take . on the
Zurich Buckettes in one best
of three semi-final starting
Wednesday, August 5, in
Varna. Game two will go on
Tuesday, August 11 in Zurich
at 9 p.m.
In series two, the Blue
Shadows will meet the Babes
in Bayfield on Monday,
August 10 and Tuesday,
August 11, in their best of
three series.

Hawks and
Cobras battle
for first place
The South Huron Men's
Slo-Pitch League regular
season came to an end last
week with two teams
deadlocked for first place.
The Bayfield Knighthawks
closed out their regular
season play with a win over
the Stanley Steamers and a
forfeit from the Dashwood
Gamblers.
In Varna, the K -Hawks
carried a huge 18-7 lead into
the ninth inning and with a
big rally the Steamers came
back with ten runs, but fell
'short as Bayfield won 18-17.
The Dashwood Gamblers
were forced to forfeit their'
remaining game with the K -
Hawks as they had refused
to make it' up on a Thursday
.night. Thursdays are the K -
Hawk home game nights in
Bayfield.
The Knighthawks end the
season with a 12 win and two
'loss record, identical to that
of the Zurich Cobras. On the
record between the two
teams this season, the K -
Hawks have outscored the
Cobras by a 25-20 margin.
Thursday, August 6, the K -
Hawks and Cobras will play,
in Bayfield, to decide who
takes first place.
The winners of this series
will face the hashwood
Gamblers and the loser will
take on the Bayfield Flyers
as the playoffs begin next
week. Other series pit the
Eagles against the Takers
(starting Sunday) and the
Stanley Steamers against
the Bayview Blue Bombers
(starting Wednesday.
