Now we are hoping it wasn't too late conning. Things were really bad 'na matter what the Ag. office says. There . hadn't been a good rain here since the first part of June and our crops were sure showing it. • • Some folks have bearable to take, time to do ,a bit of travelling. The West beckon- , ed and they went. Murray and Marlene Forbes flew to Vancouver recently to visit their daughter and son-in- law, Sylvia and Mike Whalen. They did some sightseeing at Capalim Ca- nyon and Grouse Mountain. They travelled by train to Edmonton to visit with Tom and Katherine Archibald and family. This was the first time they had seen their new granddaughter, Lind- say. Their nephew Craig Taylor came to visit them while at the Archibalds. +++ Doug and Gertrude Feagan were away for almost two months driving to Burnaby, British Colum- bia where they stopped at son Carl's home for nine days. They saw Mike and Sylvia Whalen also. They then boarded the ferry for the north, docking at Haines, Alaska. The Alaska Highway took them to Fairbanks and on July 1st on the Dempster Highway to Inuvick they drove through eight inches of snow. The trip homeward was through northern Alber- ta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. and Ontario. They were pleased to have no van trou- ble till they were back into Ontario when the windshield was broken and a tire. went flat. +++ The Crawford family, Bill, Joan, Shelley, Craig, and. Christan have just returned from three weeks of touring the West. They reported that one ,day it was: 38 degrees C when, they, were in Saskat- cliewan and by the time they - got to Calgary it was 8 degrees C and raining. A day was spent at the stamped9", but a lot of events were cancelled because of the rain so Joan went barefoot, wading through the puddles. In Kelowna, B.C. they met Bill's brother Charlie who took them fishing and show- ed howed them some sights the or- , dinary tourist would not see. They took the ferry over to Vancouver Island where " they visited with some cousins and went sightsee- ing. The Gary Preszcator family met them in Van- couver and they spent a day together before Bill's climb- ed into a plane and flew home. ++ Gordon, Liz, John and Katherine Tebbutt of Calgary and their friends Mr. and Mrs. Max Canes and Femmy of Holland visited with Irvine and Edith Teb- butt for a few days last week. On Sunday a family picnic was held with Jack, Norene and Gary Tebbutt and friend Jill; Wayne, Lois and Fraser Tebbutt of Clinton area; Paul, Pat and Neil Dockstader of Goderich; Bob, Marilyn French and family of Mitchell; Carman and Ada Tebbutt of Clinton; Geo. Addison of Seaforth; Ken and Betty Hulley and family of Londesboro atten- ding. +++ Murray, Roba, Heather and Jason Lobb took a few days off and travelled a lit- tle. They took the kids to Rockton to the Animal Safari and went on to Jarvis to visit with friends, spent a night near Simcoe and visited with Roba's sister at Belmont. Our mistake It was incorrectly reported in a caption -in a front pale picture in last week's News - Record that Jeff Mann of Clinton is the owner of a four- month -old raccoon. Jeff Medd of Seaforth owns baby Spike and Jeff, his cousins and a friend bought the unusual pet at a sale in Seaforth. The News -Record apologizes for any in- conveniences this error may have caused.
