On the w ekend of July3rd and 4th, Don and Betty v McLean took their grand- children Paul and Marsha to Bracebridge to Santa's Village and the, Ste. Marie Among the Hurons in Midland. Thank you a 11 for your Gare and concern with Mike. His condition is stable. He has a lot of pain and a long road towards recovery ahead of him. Couple wed in Goderich The Salvation Army Citadel in Goderich was the summer setting for the July 10 wedding of Frank Arts and Sharon Elaine Goulding. The groom is the son of Mrs. Petronella Gonie of Goderich and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Goulding of Vanastra. The afternoon double -ring ceremony was officiated by Captain Will Special music was supplied by a member of the church. The bride was dressed in a white embossed satin gown with long fitted sleeves and a cathedral train, delicately. trimmed 'with a cascade of imported English lace. The fitted empire waistline gown featured a scooped neck covered in lace. The bride's headpiece was a white Juliet cap with a rosette shapped shoulder length veil floating from the back. She carried a nosegay of white roses, blue daisies and baby's breath. The bride's two sisters, ,Pam and Kim Goulding of Vanastra were the bridesmaid and maid of honor and wore matching blue pleated. gowns with a wisp of lace and ribbon tied at the waist. The girls carried nosegays ofblue and white carnations and daisies and baby's breath. They wore small matching flowrs in their hair. The best man, Terry Cox of Exeter and usher Larry Dalton of RR4 Clinton wore white dinner jackets and black slacks. Following the ceremony a delicious sit down supper was served by the Vanastra and District lioness Club and Sue McFadden at the Vanastra Recreation Centre. Mr. Wayne McFadden, master of ceremonies, managed to ease the tension and create a relaxed at- mosphere: An enjoyable evening was held by all at the reception at the Vanastra Recreation Centre. They all danced to the music of "The Sound Trek". Out of town guests were Eldred and. Betty Keats and daughters Nichole and Candise from Montreal; grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Harriett Keats from Glovertown, Newfoundland and cousin of the bride, Sherri -Lynn Smart from Glovertown, Newfoundland. Friends from Toronto. Brantford, Stratford, Mit- chell, Exeter, Goderich and British Columbia attended also. Prior to Sharon's marriage the bride was given a surprise shower on June 20 at the Vanastra Recreation Centre. Upon arrival the bride and her mother were presented with a carnation corsage. The bride was showered with a variety of gifts from friends and relatives who attended. A light lunch was served. (photo by Joe Laurie) School opens It has been a beautiful week for Vacation Bible School to start this past week July 6. This has enabled the teachers to have their classes outside. On Wed- nesday, July 8 they had the highest number of children yet - 85 to be exact, which breaks last year's at- tendance by over 20 children. The largest group is the primary class which averages 20 children each day. Buzzy Bear visits with the nursery and beginner classes at story -time each day. Various classes have been doing paper matche, doodle art, mobiles, iron -ons and pictures made with macaroni and seeds. At break time the children have been enjoying ap- proximately seven dozen cookies a day so please help out and donate some cookies if you already haven't. Anyone interested should call 482-3544. Swim team practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays 4 :30-5: 30. . The Tuckersmith Town- ship • Playground Program has had three busy weeks now. The Vanastra Playground children recently completed their craft project for the last two weeks - creating some very impressive Hallowe'en masks. Similar results were seen at Varna and Egmondville. The Superstars Com- petition at Vanastra on Monday was well -attended with sportsmanship and skill shown by all competitors. All of the children at Egmon- dville Playground on Tuesday went to the Lake Huron Zone Recreation Association Playday in Seaforth for the day and had a great time. Thursday the children at Varna ale having a Superstar competition of their own. If you are reading this on Thursday, July 16th there may still be room for the Trip -of -the -Week to. Next Tuesday, July 21st Heather Gardens is going on a' picnic to Benmiller Park and on Sunday, July 26 the church service with a picnic afterwards is at Point Farms. Everyone is asked to meet at the church first. From the S.W.I.M. team: This week was dominated by V.B.S. The first week was completed. We've learned that it takes a lot of energy to teach V.B.S. The kids know how to tire us out and it takes an hour or more to prepare the lesson, but we're happy to see that more than 80 children came.
