( photo by Joe Laurie) • Shanley studies loans • Matters pertaining to the drainage loan- occupied much of Stanley Township council's July meeting,. Clerk Mel Graham reported correspondence from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food requested that all tile drainage loan applications be sent into the ministry. Council will add an ad- ditional nine applications for about $55,000 in drainage loans passed Thursday, to the applications it will be sending to the ministry. Thursday night also saw a by-law passed to make $17,000 available to four tile drainage loan appjicants. A single application for $800 to be used for a shoreline protection was also accepted by council. Stanley council supported resolutions from the Townships of Bangor, wink glow, and McClure, and Brucefield children attend Bible School Over one hundred children from the Brucefield-Kippen an\d Varna -Goshen congregations attended Bible Vacation school at Brucefield United Church last week Teachers from Brucefield were Mrs. Barbara Liver- more in charge of the music and Mrs. Barbara Moffat, Mrs. Beth Cooper, Estella Wilson Julia Townsend, also. Many lovely gifts were received and Esther gave her thanks. McClures wed for 60 years Approximately 25 friends and family gathered at the. Seaforth Manor, to celebrate with Robert and Verna Mc- Clure on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. The McClures were mar- ried June 29, 1921 in Tuckersmith. Their atten- dants were Mr, Jim McClure and Mrs. Bill Oldfield. Mrs. Verna (Knox) Mc- Clure was born in Tuckersmith and Robert was born in McKillop. They had three children, Lillian, (Mrs. George Bernard), Ross McClure, and Ruth who has passed away. There are five grandchildren, "but don't ask me how many great-grandchildren" added son Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Graham of Port Alburnee, Vancouver spent last week visiting with Mrs. Hazel Love and relatives in this area. Churches join for service Rev. These will include a display of nature sketches, the Maitland Trails Association, the thirtieth anniversary of the Middle Maitland Valle Conservation Authority wildlife protection and much, much more. Flowers were placed in the Church in loving memory of the late Alex Mousseau and Edward Corbett by their families. The Service next Sunday will be at 10:15 a.m. Luster death Miss Mary Marie Loster passed away at the Queensway Nursing Home on Monday July 6,1981 in her 80th year. Surviving is a sister Mrs. Anne Knight of Irraca, Alberta. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. Funeral service was held from the Westlake Chapel of Michael P. O'Connor in Zurich to St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church for the celebration of the funeral mass on July 8th. Father P. Mooney officiated and interment followed in St. Boniface Cemetery. Social Notes A postponed family gathering was held at the home of Donna and Ross Corbett on Sunday in honour of the latter's father John's birthday. A social time was spent followed by a delicious meal. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Morens of Dashwood were guests. Mrs. Elsie Carlile who recently underwent surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital in London in convalescing. Her many friends wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs.. Don MacLaren of Oakville spent Monday last with Don's mother Mrs. Bertha MacGregor and attended the funeral of his uncle the late Edward Corbett. ' Queensway News The staff and residents of Queensway Nursing Home are most grateful to Bill Gib- son who so kindly entertain- ed residents at his home on Monday last, also thanks to Rev. Hargraves who was in charge of the Church ser- vice. On Wednesday a group of residents took a bus trip to Komoka Nursing Home at which over 400 Seniors at- tended. Everyone enjoyed it very much. Spirits were high and laughter loud and hardy on Wednesday, July 1st when three of the residents Nell Kendrick, Louise Scyrmegeour, and wally Crich celebrated their bir- thdays which were in June. They had a party and picnic on the back lawn and a varie- ty of games were played; even the administrator gave all a laugh when he tried to. pin the tail on the donkey. The ladies of the Mennonite Church, Zurich, provided a delicious supper.
