News of Holrnesville By Blanche Deeves Twenty ladies travelled to Blyth with the Goderich Twp. W.I. to see the play "Quiet in the Land", and everyone enjoyed the even- ing. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Taylor and three children from Dawson Creek, B.C.-are visiting in the area, and also attended the 50th Anniver- sary of Ken and Pat Taylor of Blyth. Visitors with Al and Barb Bettles are Mr. and Mrs. George Hartford and three children of Dawson Creek. Johnny and Pearl McFarlane attended the 50th Anniversary of Ken and Pat Taylor in Blyth. Gary and Donna Martin and Kevin enjoyed some holidays in Huntsville. Ball news The midget boys remain undefeated with their win over Tuckersmith last week. .They play their next game July 22 against Cglborne irn Holmesville. On July 8th, the bantam boys also undefeated won a home game against Hullett and their next game is July 29 at home against Auburn. - The pee wee boys are undefeated as well and play their next game ,July 22 against Hullett in. Holmesville. The - pee wee girls won their game against Goderich and .play their next game Thursday (tonight) in Clin- ton. Our squirt boys beat Col- borne in their game last week and play their next in Varna on July 20 against Stanley Twp. On July 7, the squirt girls lost to. Goderich. Their next game, July 21, is against Tuckersmith in Holmesville at the school diamond. Don't forget the midget and pee wee boys tourna- ment this weekend in Holmesville. The midget boys start off Friday night at 7 p.m. with Benrniller playing Winthrop and at 9 p.m. Londsb ro meets Goderich Twp. Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Blyth plays Vanastra. All midget games are played On the new diamond. The pee wee boys start off Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with Goderich against Goderich Twp., and at 10:45, Hullett No. 2 meets Varna and at 12:30 Hullett No. 1 plays the winner of the 9 a.m. gaiur. All pee wee games are played at the school dia- mond. ' Come out and see your boys play. There are games all day Satufday at both diamonds. Slo-Pitch Thursday night, Porter's. Hill, defeated Pat Osborne's Union Team. Tonight, Thursday they meet Clinton Old 'Timers in Clinton. Last weekend. the Holmesville Slo-pitch team entered a tournament in Goderich and in spite of superb effort, they were put opt after two games. Perhaps this -is -what spurred them on to Victory in Vanastra on Sunday. Thursday night, they meet Londesboro under the lights in Holmesville. For anyone interested in some unorganized soft ball. don't forget the over 18 group has the Holmesville diamond rented every Mon- day night al 9 p.m. It's a perfect chance to learn the game or for a bit of fun for those who have more en- thusiasm than skill. It was nic'e to see so Ina111 out for shuffleboard last week.
