United News
Chiselhurst and Hensall
United Church held their
service, on Sunday, July 5 at
11 a.m. with Rev. Stanley
McDonald conducting the
service and Miss Xgnes Bray
at the piano and organ. The
sermon was on "The
Deputy" a book and film
depicting the part the then
Pope played during the
holocaust, and question his
attitude towards the events.
of that period. The book is
not really about the Pope but
about You and Me and our
attitude toward affairs. Do.
we prefer'not to get involved
or figure things are none of
our business? The Christian
attitude is like that of the
Good Samaritan. Not only
must our heart be with the
victims but our Voices
should loudly too. We should
all be able to pray the prayer
of St. Francis of Assisi and
work and pray towards
justice.
Flowers were placed in
memory of Alex Mousseau
oy his family.
The children's message
was about the storms of life
and a little boy who could cry
"Atta boy, God" in a storm.
A lovely solo was sung by
Mrs. Belva Fuss, and
flowers on the Communion
table were from the wedding
of Faye Whiting and Dwight
Kinsman. Ushers were Steve
Corbett and Ross Veal and
Mrs. Florence Slade greeted
everyone at the front door.
For the next two Sundays
July 12 and 19 there will be
no service at the United
Church while the minister is
away on holiday. The
congregation will join with
United Church at 10:15 each
Sunday morning. A very
successful Vacation Bible
School was held at the United
Church last week with
around 100 children in at-
tendance. We extend sincere
thanks to all organizations
and helpers in any way and
also for the bountiful supply
of cookies sent by members
of the congregation.
