Lobbs

* reunion
•
The 35th annual Lobb
Reunion was held Sunday,
July 5, 1981 at the home of
Don and Alison Lobb and the
beautiful day sparked a
record attendance of 129.
There was representation
from three of the George
Lobb branches - Kezia Lobb
Baer's family from
Michigan was represented
by Parry and Helen Baer of
Croswell, Mi.; Joseph Lobb's
[ranch from Michigan was
represented by his son,
Wilfred, and grandson Rev.
Dick Lobb, and wife, Lola, of
Saginaw. Mi.; and William
I.obb's branch was strong in
force with 112 attending from
as far as Warren, Mi.;
Germany; London; Kit-
chener; Barrie and Oak-
ville. We were also happy to
welcome as visitors Jerry
and Carol Lobb of New
Jersey.
After registration, an
active and enjoyable hour of
sports was organized by Bob
and Monica Atkinson; Herb
and Luella Stephens: Young
and old enjoyed the relays
and those not taking part
took advantage of the sunny
day to wander about and
renew aquaintances. A
genealogical chart and photo
display had been set up in the
house.
Prior to the meal a group
photo was taken and then the
delicious pot -luck meal was
enjoyed by all. President Les
Brown began the business
meeting by thanking the
capable sports committee,
and the table committee of
Bruce and Diane Lobb, Don
and Alison Lobb. Jerry and
JoAnne Lobb will move upas
President and Secretary for
1982, with Doug Pippin of
Michigan as vice-president.
Hugh and Martie Lobb, Kirk
and Joan Lynden volun-
teered to act on sports with
Alvin and Edith Lobb;
Harold and Carrie Lobb as
table committeefor 1982.
Monica Atkinson then
presented a few table prizes
accompanied by most ap-
propriate verses. The oldest
Haan and woman present
were Wilfred Lobb and Elsie
Henderson - although with
six in the over - 80 group this
was ,a close decision. We had
been fortunate enough to
have six of our third
generation well enough to
ttend - the above, plus
Fannie Lobb, 011ie Jervis,
Joy Williamson, and Luella
Cox - while 36 were present
from the sixth generation.
The person coming the
furthest distance was Bill
Wilson, vis,,tting from Ger-
many - 1St those ` from
Michigan and New Jersey
were also commended for
their efforts in attending.
The largest family present
(grandchildren included)
was that of Mervyn and Jean
Lobb - with the entire 29
there! The youngest baby
was Gina Lobb, daughter of
Gordon and Paula. The
person with the most buttons
was Rev. Dick Lobb.
After a few brief speeches
the meeting was adjourned
and the remainder of the
evening was spent either
visiting or enjoying the sing-
song led by Grace Pym. Len
Lobb and Marg Pym brought
their guitars, while Hugh
Lobb and Harold Lobb
played the violin. Kathy
Brown entertained wttn a
few numbers. This was a
source of enjoyment for
many, and the -d4 will be
long remembered by all.
Our
mistake
An old story says that bad
things come in sets of three,
and for the Clinton News -
Record's coverage of the St.
John Ambulance Fiat Aid
course graduation, this
saying vvas never more true.
Pictured in the July 2nd
edition of the News -Record,
names of three of the
graduates should have read,
fenny Uhl, Ruth Howatt and
Ann Marie Gornall.
The News -Record
apologizes for the
typographical errors " and
any inconveniences they
may have caused.
