Please don't forget our Open House set for this Fri- day, July '10 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. The News -Record will welcome you for a hello and refreshments, and a slide presentation by Editor -in - Chief, Shirley Keller. +++ On June 26 a 25th wedding anniversary dinner and dance was held in honor of Clayton and Sheila Keys at the White Carnation, Ilolmesville. Their children, Brian and Brenda both of London, planned the celebra- tion without their parents' knowledge. The dinner was attended by 65 invited guests, in- cluding the maid of honor, Joan, (Mrs. Don Bell) and best man, Keith Keys, brother of Clayton, both of Clinton. Other guests atten- ding were from Aylmer, Straffordville, Dunnville,' Exeter, Zurich, Stratf?rd, Windsor, Toronto,'Goderich, Varna and Clinton. Follow- ing ollowing the dinner the Haas Brothers Stereo entertained at an open dance. +++ Alvin, , Linda, Lana and David Jones of RR 2 Clinton hosted the 15 year reunion of Linda's graduation class from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Kitchener on July 4 and 5.. Several classmates and families enjoyed a beautiful weekend together. +++ Mrs Lillian Hallam of Auburn won $100 in the June 15 draw of the Junior C - Booster Club Draw. . CLINTON . On July 1st at the Victoria and Grey Tourna- ment in Goderich, Elmer Murray and Audrey Walsh were among the winners. Thursday night July 2 the jitney had just begun when the rain started so the bowl- ing was cancelled. On"July 4 the first outside •tournament, for the men was held here - the Hiram Walker Tourna- ment: There were 28 bowlers bowling and they ' managed to get the threegames finish- ed in spite of the rain. Lunch was served by the Clinton ladies. I Shelley McPhee photo Toronto woman wins $1,000 jackpot at Monster A Toronto woman, Jean Giordano was the big winner at the Clinton Monster Bingo on Monday night taking home the $1,000 jackpot prize. Theda Cook of Dungannon won the $186 share -the - wealth while Gloria McClin- chey of )Bayfield won the $182.50 prize and Mary Morey of Seaforth gathered $179 in winnings. Individual winners in the regular $50 games° included Ruth Gowing of Listowel, Maud Weston of Bayfield, Barbara Hoy of Vanastra and Gloria Glanville of Egmondville. Sandra Pollock of Goderich, Judy Dykstra of Bayfield and Mrs. Bill Moll - wain of Goderich split the prize winnings in one match, while Mrs. Deavereaux of Auburn, Kerry Pitblado of Goderich and June DeRuyter of -Clinton took home the money in another round. Marlene Hiusser of Atwood, Vivian Knight of Clinton and Nora Mac- Donald, also of Clinton split the prize money in the 13th round. Inspector retires William Gordon Lepp- ington, nephew of, Tom and Luella Leppington of Clin- ton, and son of the late William Leppington, retired on July 1, 1981 as Staff In- spector with the Toronto -Metro Police Force. In an article in a recent copy of News and Views, the Police Association magazine, it was noted that Mr. Leppington served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II and wa1 a Flying Officer when discharged. Ht was -appointed to the Toronto Police Department on December 1, 1945 and worked in the traffic division for 13 years. He was then promoted to Patrol Sergeant on December 2, 1958, a Sergeant on February 7,1961 and to Inspector on September 2,1975. Mr. Leppington received the Long Service Medal on December 1, 1965, the bronze leaf in 1970, the silver leaf in. 1975 and the gold leaf in 1980. He attended a course in Traf- fic Law Enforcement at Nor- thwestern orthwestern University, and also studied a course on Supervising Police Person- nel- Mr. Leppington's file also included two letters of commendation. Attends reunion By Rena Caldwell Mrs. Vivan Cooper attend- ed a reunion of her graduating class in nursing at Sarnia on Saturday. UCW of St. Andrew's Church held a bake sale at The Homestead on Saturday. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Kinsman who were married on July 4 in the Hensall United Church.
