Goderich Township
• pays accounts and
education taxes
Accounts totalling
$87,995.19 were ordered
paid when Goderich
Township Council met in
regular session June 15. Of
this amount, $265,921.32 was
for Huron County Board of
Education taxes.
Dave Reed of F. Cowan
Insurance was present to
review the township in-
surance policies. No changes..
were made and no motions
recorded.
Melte Van der Wal and A.
De Putter were present to
discuss the possibility of
exchanging lot number 8 on
the S.A.M. sub -division for
another lot of township's
choice. No motions were
recorded regarding this.
Kathy Moss objected to
various items which she
considered to be under the
township jurisdiction in plan
number 13. The clerk was
instructed to reply, ex-
plaining the township's
actions and saying that

Municipal • Drain._...,. was
referred to council. for set-
tlement. Council agreed to
bill 25 feet of the covered
drain to lot 25, concession 16
and pro rate the balance
over the entire drain.
Corporal M. Leeking the
Goderich O.P.P. was present
to inform council of a
proposed rock concert to be
held in the township on July 4
and to suggest that ap-
propriate measures be taken
to control such gatherings.
Council discussed several
by-laws which might be used
to control such gatherings
and the clerk was instructed
to obtain more definite in-
formation for the June 15
meeting.
By-law number 8, i'>;1, a
by-law for setting therates
of taxation for 1981, and the
manner of collecting taxes,
was given three readings
and passed.
K. McNairn was present to
enquire into the' laws
governing the use of travel
trailers in the township when
not in a licenced trailer
camp. No motions were
recorded regarding this.
Council donated $100 to the
Town and Country
Homemakers towards the
purchase of their
headquarters in Wingham.
G. Hiltz presented a pre -
design of the Hartman
• {iroperty, a request of which
had been made relative to a
severance request. Council
approved the pre -design
provided that the number of
accesses were reduced.
Council accepted the quote
of Baker's ' Nursery for the
supply of nursery stock for
the grounds of the com-
munity centre and a motion
was passed that Mathers be
engaged to lay sod in the
front section of the com-
munity centre.
Building permits were
issued to Irene Okahashi for
a sun deck on lot 10, con-
cession 1; and to the
Salvation Army for a dining
hall and renovations on lot
37, concession 1.

in St. James Anglican
Church on Sunday morning
and during the service one
verse of Canada's national
anthem was sung. Rev.
Bennett spoke about gossip
for his sermon and the of-
fering was collected by Jim
Storey and Ray Wise. Mrs.
Sarah Storey played the
organ.
On Tuesday the St. James
ACW are going to be busy
cleaning the church for the
Middleton -Taylor wedding.
The St. James
congregation wishes Rev.
William Bennett a very
happy birthday on Thursday.

family gathering in Bayfield
this July 1st at the rectory,
when Rev. and Mrs. Bob
Bennett and children of
