Holmesville offers weekly shuffleboard matches

friends in the area.
The Goderich Township
Recreation Centre is open
Tuesday and Thursday mor-
ning at 10 a.m. for shuf-
fleboard for those interested.
Church Services in the
Holmesville_United Church
are closed for July.

Ball news
The Midget boys beat
Stanley Township last
Thursday in Varna and play
their next game July 8
against Tuckersmith in
Holmesville.
On June 23rd the Midget
girls played in Varna but
their game was stopped
after four innings as it was
running too late. Our girls
losL They play again on July
7th against Auburn in
Holmesville. The Bantam
boys beat Auburn in their
first game of the season.
Their next game is July 8th
when they meet Hallett
Township in Holmesville.
Squirt boys played
Goderich 11 in Holmesville
and took a loss, however
Goderich Township are im-
proving. Next game is July
7th when they meet Colborne
Township in Benmiller.
The Squirt girls played
Goderich and lost on June 24.
Next game they play at
home against Goderich on
July 7th.
The Tyke boys and Tyke
girls played an exhibition
game Monday night against
Stanley Township. While the
Goderich Township boys
won their game, Stanley
Township girls came out the
winner in their game.

Auction date
for August
Arrangements are com-
plete for one of Huron Coun-
try Playhouse's most
popular fund raising events.
The fifth Annual Interna-
tional Art Auction will be
held at the Playhouse near
Grand Bend on Sunday,
August 2.
This year's auction will
feature 100 works including
Paintings, drawings, Prints,
sculpture and many other
forms of artistic expression
° from around the world. At
least 10 percent of the pieces
offered will be the work of
local southwestern Ontario
artists.
In a departure from
previous auctions, the works
will all be available for view-
ing by the general public at
no charge.„The display will
be open froz0 to 5 p.m.
Large crowds are ex-
pected to be in attendance on
Anion!! 2 as the theatre is
running its first "Challenge
Auction" during the after-
noon. Proceeds fro -no both
auction events will be eligi-
ble for two for one grants
from the Wintario Challenge
Fund. The Playhouse has
targeted a fund-raising goal
of $333,333 over the next
three years to obtain the
maximum $666,666 Wintario
grants.
For those who plan to at-
tend the art auction and bid
on one or more of the items,
admission will be $5 per per-
son. The 8 p.m. auction is
preceded by a wine and
cheese reception beginning
at 6:30 p.m.
The auction will be con-
ducted for the Playhouse by
Thielson Galleries Inc. in
Lon on.
Plan now to attend this
once -a -year event. Your par-

On June 25th Porter's Hill
Gun Club went down to
defeat by the Clinton Old
Timers. Holmesville slo-
pitch team lost to the
Londesboro Lions Club
team. I guess the tourna-
ment was too much for our
boys.

The Enterprising Seniors
were treated to a day at
Huronview during Senior
Citizen Week. The afternoon
