Ushers were Robbie Adams, Larry Hag- gart, Robbie Radford and David Whyte. During the processional hymn the Sunday school pupils and their teachers entered the sanctuary. Rev. Scott welcomed all and gave announcements. The flowers were placed in loving memory for Bert Shobbrook who passed away on June 12th, by his wife and family and from Norman Cart- wright who passed away three years ago, placed by his wife and family. This Sunday at 9:45 a.m. breakfast for Sunday school pupils and teachers. Rev. Scott led the call to worship followed by attendance awards presented by Superintendent Nick Whyte, assisted by Rev. Scott, receiving diplomas were Dennis Wilts, Joanne Wilts, Angla Lynn Horbanick, Christy Jean Scott, Rhonda Lyn Howatt, Garry Wilts, Janet Wilts, Mark Graham Shepherd, Erin Michell Hor- banick, Kerry Ann Kennedy, Gerbino Alexander Wilts, Scott Leonhardt. Second year seals went to Ang7la Scott, Scott Shaddick,Kevin Shll ingtaw, Debbie Scott, Timmie Lyons, Kent Shill- inglaw, Todd Shaddick, Amber McDougall, Graham Adams, Billie Jim Scott. Third year seals went to Timmie Airdrie, Stanley Air- drie, Melanie Knox, Theresa Knox. Fourth year seals, Kevin Wright, Brent Howatt, Sara Lyons and Kelly Bosman. Following the of- ferty prayer a promotion ceremony was held when the pupils who moved to a new class were welcomed by their new teachers. Following the benediction a note was taken on church time and 82 per cent were in favour of continuing Sunday School at 10 a.m. and church service at 11 a.m. WI meet Jim Medd The W.I. Cultural meeting was held June 10th and open- ed with Genevieve Allen at piano. Roll call was answered by a favourite country and western .singer by 21 members and five visitors. Minutes of the last meeting and financial report was- given by secretary - treasurer June Fothergill. Correspondence included thank you notes from the Clinton Public Hospital, and invitation to Goderich W.I. on June 24, and invitation to the Clinton W.I. picnic July 23 at 1 p.m. and a thank you from Gladys Armstrong for flowers. Marjorie Duizer gave her report of District Annual at St. Helens. Business was conducted, to serve suppers for Blyth Festival at 6 p.m. July 4 and 24- August 21, Sept. 4th, July llth if overflow. They want 10 recipes for cookbook. Marjorie Anderson made reservations at the Grand Berean UCW unit meets The Berean Unit of the UCW met on June 9 and leader Helen Lawson welcomed everyone and read a poem. Hattie), Wood provided piano ac- companiment for hymns and Mrs. Lawson led in prayer. The scripture was read by Mary Longman and Dora Shobbrook presented the minutes of the last meeting. Laura Lyon gave the treasurer's report and noted that the group has $55.45 on hand and expenses amounted to $10 for a gift. Ten members answered the roll call by naming a church they had recently ipvisited and Margaret Good was chosen to clean the church brass during July. Some discussion on the July 14 meeting took place, whether to have a picnic or tour Tralea Yarns in ListoweL Mrs. Good gave a reading and Edythe Beacom showed slides taken in Florida as well as the Londesboro area Mrs. Lawson closed the meeting and Iunch was served by Edythe Beacom, Mrs. Longrnan, Mrs. Good and Mrs. Lawson. Ladies baseball On June 8, the Blyth ladies ball team came to Lon- desboro and after an ex- citing, fast match, the Londesboro ladies went down in defeat, losing 11-2. Congratulations go out to the Blyth ladles for a very good game of hall. The Londesborb ladies now have two wins and one loss for the season. They meet Auburn on June 22, have a re -match with Blyth on June 29 and then meet Summerhill on June 29. Bend play house on July 28th to see Arsenic and Old Lace. Jessie Tebbutt presented 4-H Leaders with a gift. Ann Adams, Marjorie Dauer, Irene Bromley, Hattie Snell, Mary Buffinga. Absent was Amy Gerritt. A get well card was signea for Gladys Armstrong and Annie Riley favored with three songs accompaning herself on guitar. Beryl Reid introduced Jim Medd a local farmer -singer musician who has appeared on CKNX T.V. He has recorded the album `country comfort' and uses his own arrangements in the songs. Jim's information was very interesting and he told how his record was recorded and sang several songs for us. He was thanked and presented with a gift by Doreen Carter. A contest conducted by Dora Shobbrook was won by Margaret Taylor. Lunch was served by Addie Hunking, Ruth Vincent and Annie Vin- cent. Londesboro man dies John Albert ( Bert) Shobbrook Bert Shobbrook of Londesboro, died suddenly on June 12, 1981 in the Clin- ton Public Hospital in his 79th year. He was born on December 12th, 1902, son of the late John Henry Shobbrook and Mary Elizabeth Webb. He is survived by his wife, Dora Matilda Vodden, daughter Thelma Irene Ellerby of Clinton, Muriel Dora Millson of Woodstock, and son -like Gordon of Londesboro, 13 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, one sister Vera Gibbings of Clin- ton, pre -deceased by one sister Maude Radford and one brother Lorne. He was born on the 12th Concession of Hallett Township and married Dora Vodden on November 20, 1929. They farmed on the home farm on the 13th Con- cession of Hallett until retir- ing in 1967 to Londesboro, where he worked at Rad - ford's garage and drove the School Bus for five years. He had four bars for Past Patron of Regal Chapter number 275 Blyth, was an ac- tive member of the Londesboro United Church Session. He was Past Master of the Hallett Lodge A.F. and A.m. 568 and Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge. Funeral , Memorial Ser- vices, by the O.E.S. Star 275 Blyth and the Hullett Lodge A.f. and A.M. 568 were held Sunday June 14th at 9 p.m. and 8:45. The funeral service was held from the Tasker Funeral Home on Monday, June 15th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Scott officiating and assisted by Rev. Stan McDonald, a friend of the family. Pallbearers were nephews, Ross Radford, Port Colborne; Ken Shob- brook, Ajax; Bill Gibbings, Bob Vodden, Roy Vodden, Jo and Bill Crawford all of Clin- ton. Flower bearers were grandsons, Frank Garrow, Clinton; Darrell Shobbrook of Londesboro; David, Dar- ren and John Midson of Woodstock. Relations from Bob- caygeon, Ajax, Agincourt, Port Colborne, Lambeth, London, Ridgetown, St. Thomas, Woodstock and sur- rounding communities at- tended. Jack and Eileen Clark held a birthday party for their two year old twin grand- daughters. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Reg O'Hagan, Mary Beth, Laura and Sarah from Wingham. Great grandparents Alex Dark of Huronview, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clark of Meneset Park, Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter and Colleen, Mrs. Cathy ' Johnston of London, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Carter of Simcoe on Satur- day, June 13th. They spent the rest of the weekend in Niagara Falls, returning. home on Monday evening. Mrs. Dora Shobbrook, Mrs. Vera Gibbings, Mrs. Thelma Ellerby, Arlene An- drews accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gibbings attending the funeral of their uncle Mr. Ed Webb age 96 at Agincourt on June 18th. Mrs. Doreen Carter reports .a very successful `Flowers of Hope' campaign for the South Huron Associa- tion for the Mentally Han- dicapped. Mr. and Mrs. Colin Pater- son of London visited on Father's Day with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns. Mr. and Mrs. Orville New- ly visited on Sunday with their daughter Mr. and Mrs. Bob Manery and family of Newmarket. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Shobbrook were guests on Saturday at the wedding of Wilson Reid and Wendy Wright at Galt Anglican church and reception at Knights of Columbus hall in Galt. Mrs. Ross Millson and Ladies ball On June 15 Londesboro met Benmiller at the Blyth diamond. Under a rainy sky the Londesboro ladies went down in defeat once more losing to Benmiller 13-2. This gives them two wins and two losses. Next games are June 29th when Londesboro meets Summerhill at Londesboro and on July 6th, Brussels meets Londesboro at the Blyth diamond. girls Sheryl, Patricia and Sarah returned home to Woodstock on Thursday from spending a week with her mother Mrs. Dora Shob- brook at time of her father's death. On June 17th a number of parents and friends enjoyed recital of pupils of Louise dcGregor. Barbara Bosman finished with a solo and lunch was served by the Berean Unit of UCW. Mr. and Mrs. Carman Knox of Scarborough visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Les Reid and attended the 50th wedding anniver- sary on Saturday night of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Knox of Blyth.
