PAGE 2-CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, THURSDAY. JUNE 25.1981
Next Wednesday is July
1st, Dominion Day, Canada
Day or whatever else the
powers that be decide it
should be called. The main
cause of the holiday is to
celebrate the founding of our
country as a nation. And just
stop for a moment to reflect
on how lucky we all are.
Yesterday in Iran, sup-
porters of the deposed presi-
dent, Bani-Sadr, were up
against a wall and shot for
the- "crime" of political af-
filiation. Here at least we
can be Liberal, Progressive
Conservative, NDP, or
nothing at all and we are free
to pursue our lives without
fear.
All the more reason why
every Canadian should at
least know the first verse of
our National anthem. This is
the recently amended ver-
sion of "0 Canada".
0 Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love
In all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts
We see thee rise,
The True North
Strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land
Glorious and Free!
O Canada, we stand on guard
for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard
for thee.
As many readers may
have already noticed the
London Free Press included
a supplement in the paper of
June 19 entitled "Discover
Ontario". Not many pages
were passed before we
discovered Ena Shipp in liv-
ing color looking out of page
7. The article accompanying
the picture extolled the
merits of Bartliff's bakery.

Wearing a choke chain collar

Kerrigans already own a dog
- they are anxious to find a
good home for this waif.

him a good home please call

Mrs. Bess Fingland enter-
tained the afternoon U.C.W.
group of Wesley -Willis in her
home.
A summer program was
prepared and given by Cleta
McGregor, Rose Armstrong,
Edna Stewart and Olive
Ball.
The new book, "Sandy",
was introduced by Bess who
read parts from it. The story
'of the famous dog, "Sandy",
his role is in the play "An-
nie" - recently produced in
the O'Keefe Centre, Toronto,
Washington and New York.
It is an autobiography of the
dog's life, his wonderful life
• as a pup with his master on a
farm - later his fears and
hardships wandering to find
a home and someone to love
him and finally about his
trainer, Billy, and the dog's
success as an actor. It is a
fascinating story. It is chris-
tian to be kind to animals -
and you can usually tell a
man by how he treats his
animals.
The ladies enjoyed the
rose garden and other
flowers at Bess' lovely home
following a delicious lunch.
