Family
Services plan
summer
program for
kids
Family and Children's
Services • of Huron County
(operated by the Children's
Aid Society) is actively in-
volved in planning a summer
camping program for local
children.
This year the family Agen-
cy plans to place over 100
children in organized sum-
mer camps throughout the
area.
"The summer can be a
very difficult trine for some
families," says John Penn,
Executive Director of Fami-
ly and Children's Services of
Huron County. "This pro-
gram often prevents
children becoming bored
and creating problems for
their family or community."
"Many children want to go
to camp, but in today's
economy, just cannot afford
it," Perm says.
This program, operated
every year, provides a way
for children to have a fain
camping experience which
would otherwise not be possi-
ble.
This program isfunded by
donations from local service
clubs, church groups and in-
dividuals.
"It costs between MO - $50
per week to send one child to
summer camp, and we rely
on local people to support the
children in their communi-
ty," Penn says.
"Every dollar you send
goes directly to the child, no
money is spent on ad-
ministration costs - dona-
tions are also tax deducti-
ble."
Any individual or group
who wish to support this pro-
gram, should send donations
to Summer Program, Fami-
ly and Children's Services of
Huron County, 46 Gloucester
Terrace, Goderich, Ontario
N7A 1 W7.
