The Official Board of the

held from June 29th to July
3rd for the whole communi-
ty. And also the Anniversary

don and former minister of

extensively.
Rec director hired
GODERICH - Former direc-

Bco-ordinator in
ch.
Mr. Marshall, 26, worked
at the Vanastra Rec Centre
for six months before taking
the new position in Goderich.
He was chosen over five
other applicants and will be
paid $14,000 a year and after
a year wili be moving up to a
salary of $15,500 a year.
Mr. Marshall is a Kirkton
native and attended the
University of Waterloo, ma-
joring
ajoring in recreation. After
graduating, he spent two
years as recreation director
of Participation House.
OMB decision coming
The bearing was told by
Hensall counsel Dan Murphy
of Goderich that the village
and Hay Township worked
two years on an amicable
agreement in which the
village would annex 100
acres south of the village
along Highway 4 and another
100 -acre block north of the
village along the highway.
Charles Godkin, manager
of field services for the
ministry of in-
tergovernmental affairs in
London, said there would be
only a minimal increase in
taxes for residents taken in
by the annexation.
William Freeth, one of four
township residents involved
in the area to be annexed
who voiced objections, said
he didn't want any tax in-
creases and feared he would
be forced to hook into village
sewer and water services
when his own services are
working well.
One of the main concerns,
Freeth said, is that school
bus service might be lost to
the township residents and
that Highway 4 poses a
hazard for children who may
have to walk to llencall
PublicSchool.
A board of education
spokesman said the board
would continue the busing
system until walkways or
other access facilities
eliminated the highway
danger. Township children
living close to the village are
bused to the Hensall school.
